Sometimes when starting a 1990 Camaro with V6 the starter sounds like it is dragging.Other times it doesn't make noises and some times it won't start at all. Changed starter but with same results.
Dealership says it my be a sensor of some sort. If so what sensor can control the starting system?
Could it be the ignition switch/security key system?
Also it seems the battery runs down after sitting for three or four day's. Changed battery and alternater. Could a radios memory run it down that fast?

Stereo is the type that shuts itself down when you turn off the ignition.

Would not be a sensor.Sounds like the starter is not getting full power from the battery to crank over well, could be bad or corroded cables or weak battery---also, if the battery is running down in a few days, it sounds like a bad battery is the problem but you may have a big current draw somewhere that's draining it --have to get a current draw test done on it to check....a radio or other normal parasitic loads like computer memory would not draw it down that much in a few days. If battery and alt are new, have the current draw test done to find out where the drain is....probably a shorting wire somewhere or maybe trunk/underhood lamp staying on? Lamps staying on will drain it down in a few days. Have a mechanic good with electrical problems look at it.

There are several "parasitic" loads on the battery. Most won't bother anything. Does your radio/booster/pre-amp or anything added to the car turn off with the ignition? Often, they are not wired correctly, which drains the battery far faster than anything designed for that car.
