Its not the exhaust manifold cos i have listened out for that several times.
Also, it doesnt give good acceleration between 50 and 65mph. Its fuel consumption is about 18mpg. Or does it have to do with my plugs? I use the normal single electrode plugs

Any differences in the exhaust past the manifold? Like the catalytic converter and the muffler have a lot to do with the sound your car makes. Sometimes they can be plugged up or an internal baffle is broken and occluding exhaust gases.
You might inspect the plugs for fouling, etc., but plugs shouldn't affect your noise problem.

Sounds like the catalytic converter is becoming clogged. Take it to a mechanic who can connect a vacuum gauge to the engine and check for a restricted exhaust>

HAVE THE EXHAUST SYSTEM CHECKED OUT COMPLETELY.

YOU SHOULD GET THE VEHICLES COMPUTER SCANNED AND CHECK FOR ANY PROBLEMS AS WELL AS CODES AND THEN YOU WILL HAVE A GOOD IDEA ON WHAT THE PROBLEM TRULY IS.

TRY FINDING AN INDEPENDENT SHOP INSTEAD OF THE DEALER OR A CHAIN STORE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE OVERALL MORE PLEASED WITH THE FINDINGS AND THE SERVICE.

LEAVE IT THERE WITH THEM SO THAT THEY CAN FIND THE PROBLEM FOR YOU, IT WILL BE A LOT BETTER THAN JUST REPLACING PART AFTER PART AND NOT DOING ANY GOOD.

The best thing that you can do is take it to a mechanic. (but not the one who answered you. He sounds like a smart mouth). A good mechanic will check it out and give you a answer plus a quote to fix it, if it needs fixing

I just love guys like you who come by the shop looking to get ripped off because you can smell or hear something ... if it's not getting good gas mileage do a tune up if it's over 100K other than that find something else to entertain yourself.

Hard to start at times? "Yes & No?" sounds like your mulffer is coming apart inside, low pitched sound is "Back Pressure" you can varify it by going to a mulffer shop, explain it to them and have them check the "Back Pressure".
