Do we settle this without getting insurances involved or with? I know mine is going to cost well over $1000 to repair and his will cost around $400...

Unfortunately you may want to get your insurance involved. In this day in age there are too many people that are lawsuit hungry and they may try to get more money out of you than you have. The insurance is there to help you so you might as well use it. I realize that this make your rates go up, but in the long run, it might be more beneficial to you. Good luck.
