A box of crayons melted through a bag on the front seat of my Honda Pilot. I got the wax off, but there's a blue stain left on the beige leather seat. Anyone know what I could use to try and remove it?

I have a '99 Trans Am, and in the passenger side headlight, it sounds like the motor is TRYING to open and close it, but it doesn't move. Is the motor broken, or could it be something else? Oh, and the other headlight works just fine.

Hi, this is an ongoing problem!!!

I've a 1972 Renault engine. The distributor required replacing as the old one needed reconditioning (it had a short on the points) and since then I can't get it started. I've cranked the engine manually till piston 1 is TDC and aligned the distributor to fire spark 1, but all I get is the sound of the engine attempting to fire...then nothing. Firing sequence on the cap is all OK. It sounds go close it is frustrating.

I'm at a loss to figure out what to do next! I've checked and there is a good strong spark.

Could I have aligned piston 1 to be TDC on the wrong stroke (someone said there are two stokes, one for firing when the valves are closed, and one which isn't)?

Any other ideas?

The engine is so old I can't see any timing marks on it anywhere which doesn't help.

I just recently began having troubles with my car. I own a 1998 mitsubishi eclipse with 120k miles on it. The other day alot of white smoke started coming out of the exhaust. My uncle told me it is possible a cracked head-gasket. When I got home I began looking it up on the internet and so far Im still not sure.

I checked the oil, as far as i know it is a brownish yellow color (not "milky")

When I open the radiator cap (im assuming its the radiator cap, its next to the overflow) and leave the car idling, water and steam begins spurting out of it after about a minute.

Although my exhaust is smoking white, I do not smell the sickly sweet anti-freeze smell that is associated with it.

Lastly since it happened my car has started to get really hot really fast on the temperature gauge. Previously it used to sit a little under 1/4th it not jumps to around halfway after driving only a mile or so. I have not attempted to drive it any further than that in fear of over heating.

As soon as I turn over, the oil pressure shoots way up to about 80psi (maxed out on gauge). Any ideas on possible problems? Is it safe to drive 15-20 miles to shop with oil pressure maxed out? Also, looks like there is a bad oil leak somewhere, possibly rear main seal?

I have a 1996 Cadillac Deville with 81,150 miles. The rest of the car is in great shape. The body has no rust. I have touched up a couple places where the paint was chipped. Now the "Service Engine Soon" light comes on and the message is "Service Transmission". The code from the computer says that the "Input staft speed in the transmission is low". The car shifts okay and there does not seem to be any degradation in operations.
The KBB value of the car in good condition is $3,405.

It has been recommeneded that I go to a local transmission shop. There is an AAMCO shop about 9 miles from here.

SO WHAT DO I DO?

HOW MUCH WILL A TRANSMISSION COST?

DO YOU NORMALLY NEED A NEW ONE?

Thanks

I own a 1995 Saturn SL-1. Recently, the air isn't as cool as it used to be. The faster I travel, the cooler the air is. When I'm at a stop light, the air is luke warm. I figured it's time to recharge the A/C.....

However.....at the same time this happened, the coolant temperature guage often reads HOT! I mean all the way in the red...almost off the charts. I had to turn the heat on to keep it from overheating.....NOT fun when it's 95 degrees outside!

ALSO.....the same day this started happening, the "Service Engine Soon" light is now on all the time.

Could it be my thermostat?

I've been putting 87 octane (I believe based on the [R+M]/2 method: R = research octane, M = motor octane) into my car (Toyota Corolla).
But I recently re-read the owners manual, where I noticed that it states, "Fuel selection: Use only UNLEADED fuel: Research Octane No. 91 (Octane Rating 87) or higher."
Now, I'm wondering whether I should be putting in 91 octane or 89 octane. Do the words "Octane Rating 87" refer to Motor octane or the octane I get at the pump, which is the average of the two.
Would putting in higher octane now cause problems with the engine? The car has 195K miles on it, and other than a small oil leak, the engine runs fine most of the time. About once every 6 months, I do get a strange starting problem: after driving in hot weather on short trips, if I turn off the engine, the car won't start, and I have to wait about 5-10 minutes before the car starts. I attribute this to letting the engine cool, although the temperature gauge never gets above 45% of max.

When my check engine light came on Auto Zone said it was misfire in cylinder #2. The engine light is still on but when I reach 50 mph-60mph the car becomes hesitant and the engine light starts blinking.

What is causing the misfire?
What price range am I looking at to correct this problem.

wondering if there are any common front end problems in Jeep cherokees, its a 99. Once we hit 50 the car will shake a little until we hit 60 then its normally fine.... but if we hit a bump before then or turn a little then the car shakes really bad, like were driving through tons of pot holes. only way to stop the shaking is to slow down or stop. Was wondering if anyone had a diagnosis before we took it in, just to see how much you think it will cost. Thanks!
