I took my 94-Camry for state inspection; they have asked to change '4" Flex Pipe'.

I am looking for mechanics who do these kind of works. Big Auto repair shops are asking hell lot of money to do this (Man, $700+ is not a small money to spend on 94 model car). I really do not want to shell out that much on my old car.

Any help/info??

Thank you.

My check engine light has been coming on in my Camry> my car has 120k miles on it. I just bought it recently last month. Car was well maintained and my mechanic looked at the engine said it was in good shape. Anyway, I had a Sears mechanic plug a device up to the engine to see where the problem is occuring. He says its either the catalytic converter or the oxygen 2 sensor. Catalytic converters are expensive! $1500! They told me not to worry about it because they said the engine runs and sounds great! They were surprised on how well the engine sounded. They also told me to leave it alone. They said if it is oxygen sensor then it wont harm the engine but your engine light will stay on. Which annoys me. Does anyone have any expert advice here? There are no funny smells, no rattling, no white or black smoke coming out of exhaust,no stalling...car runs very good. It does vibrate a little at intersections. Do you think its the catalytic converter? I need an expert opinion.

The car brakes well, but I get a slightly rough ride and a bad odor from the wheel. Is this coincidental or related to new pads?

hopfully there is someone who can help me with this question. I have a 99 chevy malibu, 3.1 v6. I replaced the front brake calipers. When I started to bleed them, I could not get the fluid to pump to the bleeder valve on the caliper with enough pressure to bleed it. The fluid would only come out slowly no matter how hard you pumped the brakes. So I went ahead and hooked the rubber line to the bleeder screw and dropped it into my containor of brake fluid. After pumping the breaks for aprx 10 minues, I had barely even pumped any fluid out at all. Still lot's of air. It just isn't putting enough pressure to the fluid to get it to come out fast enough to get all the air out. The brake pedal never gets any firmer no matter how long you pump it. This holds true for both sides. Before changing the calipers, I had noticed a cpl of times while driving that the pedal seemed to be going down farther than normal. That is why I originally put new brakes and calipers on it.
