Goo gone is a very good product for this type of issue. It's safe for auto finishes and will remove the gum with out too much work. use a 100% cotton towel to remove it to avoid scratching the paint. ploy blends and other cotton blends will often scratch the finish on the car. there are other products available to remove gum, tar, and other road side materials that get stuck to the sides of cars, however goo gone is one of the most common and is often the most effective.

A product called "Goo Gone" should do the trick. It's a citrus based product. Google it.
