my car engine suddenly started to shake it sounds like if it was choking with air ,,a mechanic suggested that the carburator needs a full repair-kit and he raised the air uptake pressure of the carburator using two small screws with a spceial screw-driver just underneath the filter case so the shaking rate has become faster (like if the gas pedal is slightly pressed) wht is the best cost-effective method to repair this pb

For about a couple of weeks my door would do the beeping thing when the key wasnt in the ignition. The beep when you have the key in and the door open. Then tonight I went to start my car and it started smoking underneath the dash, but the door doesnt beep anymore. What could be the cause of the smoke and the reason why it isnt beeping the way it was?

My fiance has a 02 Chrysler Sebing, and bought it new. 6 months ago he started delivering pizzas and has put him at 80k miles. I have noticed that the shifting is noticable.. but not horrible. We had it checked out and the guy said it needs an "overhaul", I guess that means a replacement.

*All maintenance and repairs are done at the dealership.

Since it wasn't that bad, we're we wrong to say "yes, fix it"? It's costing 2k to have this done.

Also, should we have just dumped the car and got another one? Or will this one have a long life now?

93 ford probe (Standard) I've change the water pump, radiator, thermostat, head gasket, and re-did the timming belt, the fan works fine but the car still overheats. any suggestions of what it could be, or should I call the wrecker

Okay I have a 1985 Cadillac Fleetwood. All of the gages are digital. The gas gage isn't showing any numbers on either side it just jumbles a bunch of little green lines. Also my heater and ac don't work plus the gage for that to show me how hot the air is or how cool the air is isn't working. Can anybody please tell me what my dad and I should do to fix this problem?

I have a 95 Toyota Camry V4. The other day my car overheated. There was smoke coming from below the hood and the temp gage was at the H level. When I looked at the coolant tank it was empty. So I filled water and coolant in the radiator. About 6 days later I checked the tank again it was empty. So I filled the tank part with coolant about 3 hours later and a 15 min drive later (to some stores) I looked at the tank and it was halfway gone (i filled it to the line). I find it strange that it took 6 days to empty completely but not even 2-3 hours for it to go half way full. So I am wondering if the car is getting worse. I havent had another overheating and the temp gage has been at the middle level. I am wondering what the problem is and what you think the repairs might cost. I am a woman and I have always had a hard time with auto shops because they always seem to take advantage, and tell me that there is so many things wrong with the car. I just want to go in prepared. Thanks

When I go to NAPA to buy parta there is always the cheap parts, then the high dollar parts. Are the high dollar parts that much better? or are the cheap parts just as good. Because, I don't always have the money for the higher parts.

It has been having episodes of not starting for a couple months now. First, it would just have times that it wouldn't do anything when I turned the key. I'd let it sit for a while or get out and dowse the battery terminals/cables with baking soda and water and it would start right up. The next thing it started do was acting like it wasn't going to start - like the battery was almost dead - but then it would start anyway. And THEN the past 2 weeks it has been making a funny rapid clicking sound right before it started. But there have also been days that it started right up with no problem at all - several times in a row. I've cleaned the terminals and cables with a wire brush because that's about all I can afford to do at the moment. What else can I try to either fix it or figure out what is wrong with it? The battery gauge is always a hair over the center, by the way, so I think the battery and alternator are fine.

Hi Guys. Can anybody help me with this car electrical issue please.

while driving home the other night my speedo, rev's, temp guage and odometer went "dead" on the dash. I continued to drive home and the next day it was fine again. The next day we went for a drive and just before we got to our destination, it all died again. We "played" around with the fuse box thinking that either a fuse was loose or perhaps becomming weaker and then it was fine again. Today, I'm driving and it all dies again. This problem does not effect anything else, the car still runs perfectly (we've owned it since brand new and it's now 6 years old) all the other electrics work ok, even the dash light works as does the petrol guage. It's just really strange.

Does anybody out there have any idea what may be causing this problem, and what Ishould do about it ?

BTW it's a 2001 mitsubishi lancer coupe, has not been thrashed, is well looked after and has very low mileage.

Any ideas or suggestions ?
