For about a couple of weeks my door would do the beeping thing when the key wasnt in the ignition. The beep when you have the key in and the door open. Then tonight I went to start my car and it started smoking underneath the dash, but the door doesnt beep anymore. What could be the cause of the smoke and the reason why it isnt beeping the way it was?

Is it dangerous for me to drive the car if I can't really afford to have it looked at ASAP?

Off hand, I`d say it sounds like your senser burned out. If it isn`t affecting anything else, don`t worry about it. Wouldn`t be worth the price to repair it.

It sounds like you had a break in the wire, which caused a short. I'm guessing the smoke was caused by the shorting out, and the fuse not blowing.

sounds like an older ford-there was a recall on their ignition switches for the same problems-ask a dealer to run your vin numbers-they should do this for free
