i have a 1991 buick with a 3.8L 3800 motor and i severly overheated (drove for about 15-20 mins with no coolant) the motor. i have not fixed the leak yet but i can restart it and it makes no bad noises (i only run it for a few seconds)
it has now been sitting for about a year since it overheated
do you think i did any damage to the motor ??
as i said it makes no bad noises when i start it

I have a 1992 Buick Park Ave. I started my car just fine and stopped at a stop sign. When I pressed on the gas to go, it died. The lights, radio, etc.... still work, but the car is just dead!
I was told it could be my key. I have an anti-theft type key, and it was worn down, so I went and got a new one. That wasn't it. It still wont start. I now have a new key, new battery and a new starter, but still....nothing. Can anyone help me?!?!

My friend just called and she's getting her oil changed and they talked her into rotating her tires. Now they say they can't because she doesn't have the tire iron for her car in her trunk? I don't get this. Wouldn't they have their own anyway?

could something be broken or what? dont know if it's a result of reving the engine a little, then slamming it in gear and burning out. - also my rear suspension squeaks. i lubricated the bushings but i think it's the shocks that are still doin it. they're about a year old.

I got a few questions that I have been wondering about when it comes to auto transmissions:
Why can't you feel them downshift when you slow down or come to a stop, and why wouldn't it automatically downshift when your slowing down to help you slow the vehicle??? I do that in a manual all the time and it is one of the reasons why I hate automatics. Being an automatic you would think that this would just be another thing that it should do automatically.

I know this is kind of a stupid question since the deprication of automobiles drops quite a bit as soon as you drive it off the lot, but i got a new chevy silverado 2500 and was wondering if putting a custom job on it had any benefits besides bragging rights.

I have no problems changing the plugs on the 4 cyl where just one plug may be a bit obstructed by an alternator, but what tool set will allow me to handle all, or nearly all, plug changes without getting underneath the car or becoming a contortionist. I have one swivel socket, 5/8, an extension, and a red plastic thng I use to start the plug I'm placing into the socket which i then turn by hand, followd by a turn from the socket wrench to tighten completely. I've been asked to do plug changes for the local senior complex..Thanks.

Okay, I had my freon recharged, plus my serpentine and timing belts, and the tensioner replaced (which Meinke said would fix it), and the A/C still only blows HOT AIR, no matter what setting it's on. Please help!!

I am rebuilding a Wisconsin VH4D and I can't figure out how the oil pump works. Behind the idler gear ther is a place for a pipe plug. I can't remember if there was a plug in it or not. How does the oil get from the oil pump to the oil nozels? The motor has been apart for about 3 months waiting on the machine shop to do the machining and I don't remember some of the odds & ends. Answers will be greatly appreciated

I've always just unhooked them both when I changed batteries, but now someone has made me paranoid about it. So I thought I should ask. I already cleaned the negative because I know that's a safe bet. When I clean the positive one, does the negative need to be unhooked also or can I just leave it hooked up while I take the positive off to clean it? Thanks!

Ok, so my car started fine this morning, went to church . When i got back to my car about 90 minutes later the car was completely dead. Not even the dome light. I get someone to jump it. When I get back to get ready a small glow in the dome light. Jump the car (when we connected the cables my friends car didn't even dip in RPM's) the car started. Drove it 10 minutes home, not much time to charge a battery but I wasn't sure if the battery could still hold a charge so I tried starting it. It started fine after only charging 10 minutes. Went to my car an hour later with a battery charger. When I first hooked it up the needle started at 50% and within a minute was at 100%. That didn't make since. Could it have been a fluke? Should I just go ahead and change the battery? I travel an hour to work and would hate to get stranded at the same time why waste money if it seems ok?

My Brother has a 1991 acura integra and when he was driving home last night his clutch pedal got stuck to the floor and when we try to shift it grinds. We thought he broke a cable but it is still in tact.

Someone brought up the fact that there may be a bolt stuck in the flywheel. I just put a racing clutch in there and we torqued it well and used lock tite.

Does anyone have any suggestions i can do just about all the work it needs myself.

Any help is greatly appreciated
