lately my neon has been giving me troubles and i think it has to do with my transmission. When im driving, specially if i have been driving for a while, i will come to a stop or slow down and when i speed back up, my car will have trouble shifting gears. It will rev really loud till it finally switches gears...so basicaly in short...its shifting at odd times. Im not going to get it fixed becuase my car is a hunk of junk and im getting a new one..i just want to know...thanks?

I own a transmission shop, and what is wrong with your Neon is not much. It's one of two things; one the cable is out of adjustment (if it has one), Two; the throttle position sensor is bad, and the computer doesn't know how hard you are pressing the gas pedal. It can also be a bad speed sensor, and the computer doesn't know how fast the vehicle is going. The computer basis the shift points by how much you are pushing the gas pedal, and what speed the vehicles traveling. Some of them has a cable that runs from the throttle body to the transmission that controls the shift points by moving a small piston in or out on the valve body. It depends on how new your car is, as to what set up you have. Either way, it's not a major problem to fix, and I would take it to a reputable transmission shop (or two) and get an estimate on getting it repaired. This way you will know whats wrong, and if you want to invest any money into it or not. Since you aren't going to get it fixed, you won't get much for it on trade in, or if you wish to sell it. It wouldn't be worth much for junk since it doesn't weigh much. Matter of fact; you could end up paying someone to haul it off.
Part 2:
Check the fluid level this way; Drive the vehicle until it is hot, as in normal temprature. Stop on level ground, with transmission in park remove dipstick, and wipe clean. Push stick in all the way, remove rather quickly, hold stick level, and read the level on "both" sides of stick. Only one side has any marks, but one must read both sides in order to get the correct reading. Since the fluid will pull up the tube with the stick, one must check several times in order to get the correct reading. You may notice the level is two different places on the stick, so you go by the side that is lowest on the stick. If the fluid level is above the full mark, then you must pump some back out with a hand pump until it is reading full, but no more. So the answer is; yes you can over fill it, and yes it is not good on one to do this. Why not take it to a reputable transmission shop, and have them take a look at it. They can give you a free estimate on repairing it. This way you will know what the problem is, and if it's over full.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!

Yes, it's possible to put in too much fluid. Sometimes it can get chuned up by the drums and clutches in your transmission, causing it to foam, which is just like not having enough fluid.
Don't buy any more Dodges. GM is the best.

A instruction manual was once greater fee-effective on a clean automobile. in reality it nevertheless is. whilst they promote the backside cost for a clean automobile, they are quoting the numbers with a instruction manual transmission. . computerized transmission? upload yet another $1000 onto the fee tag. A/C? yet another 1000, Undercoating yet another grand. in case you learn how to force a usual shift precise and don't haul a trailer in the back of you crammed with rocks, turf, miscellaneous heavy junk...or drag race. you could circulate 6 years with out touching the seize. many situations even farther. . In city site visitors with an excellent number of stops, your seize foot gets drained. you could up shift to a minimum of one/3 and right down to 2d and then use brakes from that ingredient directly to end. First is for basically beginning off, in no way shift back into it as 2d kit will take you from "basically approximately a lifeless end" to a minimum of one/3 kit. It makes for much less shifting and greater smoother experience. As for transmission issues, automatics frequently could desire to circulate to an automobile transmission save as they are packed with areas. so that they rip you off because of the fact they are experts. automobile transmissions have clutches too...they call them bands which clamp around the rotating shaft. They slip too. instruction manual transmission it incredibly is purely the seize plate. final time I paid for one it replaced into $one hundred fifty., the throwout bearing you alter too and that replaced into according to probability 70...all entire according to probability $500 to have a mechanic do the interest with the areas blanketed. automobile trans issues are going to be double that straightforward. because of the fact all of them ask that "they are in collusion, each and each of an identical cost." Any paintings you have them guesstimate the fee so which you have an concept of no count in case you could arise with the money for to repair the automobile. they have a reliable concept what's incorrect so their wager would be on the severe end, to cover hidden unpredicted fees. Any storage mechanic can separate a bell housing and take out and replace the seize and throw out bearing and reassemble it. you do not % a professional. The transmission gears are fantastic. infrequently do they ruin. computerized purely ruin once you drag race plenty. as properly it incredibly is a woman's automobile.

Just top off the fluid for now and hope it lasts long enough to get a new car.
