My car Will crank but will not turn over, I have replaced the Fuel pump and Related FP relay fuse, the fuel pump is just not turning on. I cannot hear it when key is turned. Replaced all the fuses, not sure where to go from here, the car is a 1997 Grand Prix GTP , not sure if this helps but the gas gage also reads empty but I assure you there is gas in there because I seen it when taking Fuel pump out, any help would be appreciated, thank you, Jonathon

I have not checked or replaced the relay itself, i found it on the net one time but i cannot seem to find it at all, i think i heard its in the wheel Well, Basically the car will crank perfectly fine, just nothing from there, i might have to take it to a mechanic, not good at electrical stuff, I had my fiance crank and just turn the key and i had my ear right by the fuel pump, Cannot hear a thing.

I will try to help you, but this problem can be more complicated than what you might think.
1)You stated that you replaced the fuel pump relay fuse. Have you replaced the relay itself?

2)If you think it is the fuel pump, you need to check for power and ground going to the fuel pump. I also know that on GM vehicles that the fuel pump will not prime just with the key on. You need to be actually cranking to get the fuel pump to turn on. The PCM has to see a crank signal in order for the fuel pump to kick on. Check the sparks plugs to see if they are wet. If they are bone dry then you know for sure that fuel is not entering the combustion chamber.

3)If the PCM controls the fuel pump relay then you might have a bad PCM.

4)There are 4 things you must have in order for the engine to start: 1)Fuel 2)Spark 3)Compression 4)Timming

5)Hope this helps and not confuse you, but it is not an easy fix over the net

Check the connection at the fuel pump. You may have forgotten to plug the wires or the plug is not all way in.
Sometimes, when you don't have sparks, the ECM (Engine Control module) shuts the fuel. Don you have sparks? If your vehicle is equipped with the fuel cut off switch (usually located in the trunk), make sure it didn't trip. Also, the fuel pump has its own fuse...have you checked it?
Good luck!

Some times new parts are bad yours could be bad. Have you replaced your fuel filter. Have you checked your plugs to see if they are getting fire.

well no fuel wont keep it from turning on, you need to make sure your getting power to the fuel pump. if your not then you need to trace it back from there
