I always change my own oil.But now I own A corolla and need to know how to turn off maintenence required light

By reading the manual. There's a special sequence of turning this and that switch on and off to turn off the light.

You should hook up the car to a diagnostic computer and get the maintenance code. While attached to the computer you can clear the maint light but it will come back if the problem has not been fixed.
Another way to clear the maint light is to unhook you car battery for at least 15 min and reattach. You will need to reset your clock, radio station settings, etc though.

If it's one of new type of corollas with lots of computerized stuff in it. It's nearly impossible.

You need a special plug and a software to do that. or simply unplug the maintenance light.

Unhook the battery for 1/2 hour or so, if it doesn't work try longer.

In the fuse box , there is actually a reset button, but I don't know how to direct you to it.

For a Corrolla, get a hammer.
