i drive my car to work every day, i take the streets.... i barely bought the car like 3 weeks ago and in that time ive only took it on the freeway about 3 times and two of the times the engine lights has gone on while on the fwy... what could it be???

There's only one thing it can be. The fact that you haven't read the engine code to find out what it is.
Spend $50 on an OBDII scanner. You'll be able to read the codes from any car made in the last 11 years.
Now you know why the car was for sale.

It is very difficult to know what diagnostic trouble code set your check engine light to come on. There are over 500 diagnostic trouble codes that can set the check engine light to go on. The check engine light monitors emmision related sensors and components so you have lots of choices there. What your best bet is to goto Autozone to get a free check engine light check up.
