had a friend tell me to change out the stainless steel bolts on my car tow bar set up as they were "softer " than mild steel and to put grade 5 or 8 in place. I know 5 or 8 are good, I thought that s s was stronger and harder than mild steel bolts, which is why I changed to them

Hey took my car to the shop, and is waiting word on what happen. But was wondering if anyone has any ideas? Actually my mother in my car. Alright; that is a releif. But the car was coming to a stop at the red light. But as deaccerating the car wouldn't stop, and kept accerlating. Finally my mom got the car to get into park, still accerlating. Now in the shop. Any ideas? Thanks.

Thats what I am looking for, not looking for a shop manual, but a repair/service/maintenance manual. If anyone knows where I can find one, please let me know. Already tried auto parts stores in my area, ebay, amazon, bookstores in my area, etc. Also tried places like Dan Chuck, which specialize in my car, and all they had is a shop manual, which didnt tell me anything about repair procedures, troubleshooting, etc.

It was hit by another car right on the drivers side wheel. Steering wheel is not centered and it wears tires out fast.

It's a stupid question but I just can't figure it out. There's nothing in my Haynes manual about it.

Just bought a 2007 F-150 Lariat with 20" factory wheels, and I'm very unhappy with the ride.
Compared to most GM's (I had a Tahoe and Avalanche before), the ride is rough and not very compliant. I prefer that "softer" feel on the road.
Short of changing the 20" wheels to 18's, anyone know of a way to improve the ride on this particular truck? Perhaps the shocks?

Hi,
I have a 1991 Hyundai Excel and am currently using premium high octane (98+) fuel in.
I have read that sometimes using premium fuel in older cars has no benefits and can sometimes increase overall running costs. As I am a student I don't want to be wasting money on petrol, but want whats best for my car.
Does anyone know what fuel I would be best using?
Thankyou
Bria

I got a '96 Civic and I've just started noticing that it makes a noise, kind of like a low, bass squeak. What's wrong with it and what can I do to fix it myself? Thanks.

I don't want to be ripped off! I've put my 2004 Ford Ka in to be serviced and been told the brakes need repaired. Before I go back to get it (and the bill) I'd like to know how much roughly they'll charge me. It's the front and back brakes that need sorted.

It Idles at around 2000rpms when warm and then when I put it in gear it idles at around 900 but you can feel the engine idle a little rough like its misfiring but I don't think it is because going down the road there is power there and there are no codes being reported. I just dropped the engine in there and looked at the haynes manual for the vaccum hoses and from the diagram I don't think I got any of them hooked up wrong or anything. There is one hose that hookes up to the cruise that off of that is aonther hose I had to plug for the cruise to work but I can figure out where it goes thats why I had to plug it. If anybody has any idea what the problem could be any help would be appreciated.

I have a '95 Ford F-350 with a E4OD electronic 4-speed automatic transmission. First I dropped the pan and opened the drain plug on the torque converter. I disconnected the transmission lines from the transmission and removed the in-line filter. I used that kooler cleaner solvent flush in a can and connected it to the feed line and flushed the lines and cooler out of where the inline filter was connected. Then I tried to blow out the solvent residue with the air compressor. I used 120psi and put a rag in front of the nozzel to catch any water spray coming out of the compressor. Would that much pressure damage the system?

I put the new filters in and reconnected the lines and filled it up with transmission fluid. Would the air in the lines and cooler cause problems?

Would the cooler purge itself of the air or do I have to bleed it manually somehow?

Would the residue of that kooler kleaner be bad for the transmission?

Hi all, had a battery drain problem for a couple of weeks, and because I haven't used the car at the weekend, the battery is completely flat. The doors have electronic opening and won't open. I have tried the boot lid and this won't open either. Any ideas how I can either open the doors or get the bonnet open so I can get the battery charged?

I promised myself that I could do without the car for a month, so I have been cycling everywhere. Ive not even opened the car door for just under 4 weeks. I know the battery will probably be flat and will need charging. I am going to start driving it again in a weeks time. What other things, if any should I need to check ?
