Hey took my car to the shop, and is waiting word on what happen. But was wondering if anyone has any ideas? Actually my mother in my car. Alright; that is a releif. But the car was coming to a stop at the red light. But as deaccerating the car wouldn't stop, and kept accerlating. Finally my mom got the car to get into park, still accerlating. Now in the shop. Any ideas? Thanks.

Faulty cruise control?
Throttle return spring broke?

It could be a number of things. Nou neglected to mention what kind of car/truck.

Throttle cable is sticking or something is blocking the linkage so it won't close. Or, it's possible that your cruise control is acting up. I had a car that would accelerate when I used the wipers (same lever as the cruise control switch.)

Besides the accelerating problem you probably also have transmission damage if car went into park while in motion.

leave the transmission in kit and swap off the ignition then prepare the parking brake. once you shut off the engine you will lose the ability steerage and power breaks. the different technique is merely placed the transmission in independent and prepare breaks.
