Hi all, had a battery drain problem for a couple of weeks, and because I haven't used the car at the weekend, the battery is completely flat. The doors have electronic opening and won't open. I have tried the boot lid and this won't open either. Any ideas how I can either open the doors or get the bonnet open so I can get the battery charged?

Thanks all, the problem appears to be the GM/Vauxhall have fitted a deadlock security system that kicks in if the battery is allowed to go completely dead. Crazy thing is that using the key (with the chip in it) also doesn't open the door. I'll keep trying - but I think the brick through the window option is coming sooner rather than later.

You might be able to spring the bonnet lock with very little damage, then you could charge the battery. NB I thought Vauxhall had a mechanical override so you could always open the drivers door with the key. Otherwise you need to get to something that's always live to connect a charger; Starter motor as suggested, or boot light if you can get the lid open

OK there,

Hold on with the brick....

You can unlock the drivers door with the key even when the battery is flat.

You need to turn it very hard, it will feel like it is going to break but it is designed to do this.It will sound like it is crunching something inside.

Contact a Vauxhall dealer if you are worried.

I had the same problem with a Cavalier......

earlier you start up, you want some oil, some thing to collect the old oil in, a field for taking the old oil to the recycling centre and a gadget for removing the sump plug. (With Vauxhalls, it particularly is in lots of circumstances a great Allen key) power around the block to get the engine heat. positioned some thing under the sump to collect the oil and take out the sump plug. (positioned on thick gloves - it particularly is warm). whilst each and all of the oil has run out and it particularly is stopped dripping, positioned back the sump plug, then upload new oil. upload it somewhat at a time and wait earlier you examine the oil point - it takes time to run by way of. in lots of circumstances once you alter the oil, you besides could replace the oil filter out. it particularly is greater problematical and you do it when you have drained the oil. On a Vectra it particularly is a cannister. You unscrew it - the two utilising a team wrench or by way of punching a hollow in it with a screwdriver and utilising that as a lever. you need to be very careful putting the recent filter out in simply by fact in case you don't get the seal sitting properly, it particularly is going to leak. Now you're taking the oil and filter out all the way down to the recycling centre. you will in all threat locate it particularly is less demanding and greater fee-effective to telephone a cellular mechanic to return and do it.

your key should work on either the passengers door od boot..if not call a locksmith or if glass is cheaper break one of the smaller windows at the rear...Had same issue with a vauxhall omega and got in via the boot.
Goodluck

Easygoin has the right idea---run jumper wire from a good battery to the positive cable---the large one---on the starter and another wire to a ground point or metal part of the frame

If you can reach the starter motor from under the car...

you can attach jumper leads to the positive lead on the starter.& the negative to the bodywork.....this should give you power to the door locks...

I think this should work..( I havent tried it..& I dont have a car that has electric door locks to try it on)
