I've used POR15 with subpar results. I see there is a new 3 step product called Rust Encapsulator on the market. Will this do a better job? I have a 1990 truck with rust in the usual places, but its just surface rust, not rot (yet) in most areas. I'm looking to stop it permanently, and was considering topcoating the lower body with Durabak (which is a spray in bedliner type product) once the rust is neutralized.

The truck was regularly "rustproofed" with rubberized undercoating by the previous owner which may or may not have helped matters. I figure the Durabak would be a more permanent form of undercoating since it doesn't flake off.

Any takers?

I have a 5 year old car, which was always reliable till one night ago my partner left the interior lights on overnight. The next morning I found out my car immobilizer light was not blinking as always, and I found out that the reading light was on but very dim. As the immobilizer is off, I couldn't start the car. I know at this point that the battery had been drained by the light overnight. I then bought myself a small battery charger, which the guy at the shop suggested and charged the battery for about 10 hours. Re install the battery back to the car, and nothing happened. Any suggestion? does it mean i need a new battery to replace? The old battery itself is about 5 years old.

Ok, i have never done it before but i think i have a fuel pump that went out on my 1988 Ninety-Eight. Now i am guessing i have to drop the tank to get to the fuel pump but easy is this process? How many bolts do i have to take out and does the car have to be jacked up to get to the pump once its dropped?

ok I have a few issues about my car and I would appreciate and help from people who know what the problem is, or have had the same problem. My car is a mercedes 350sdl about 175k miles on it but runs well

Issue #1 - I was driving around my city a little bit.. went to parallel park, before I did I had my car just idling there because I was tlaking to someone through the window.. then all the sudden all the dashboards icons flash for a split second and the whole car shuts off. I immediatley think this is an electrical issue. I turn the car back on and it turns on fine, and I park it.
Later I come back.. turn it on to leave. Im pulling out making a K turn, and in the middle of the turn.. same things happens. Seems like its happening when my car is idling or at very low rpm.. seems to indicate a depleted battery charge? But this confusing me since I drove a 3 hour trip today at constant 60-80mph, which means the battery would have been charging.

Anyone know what hte problem might b

I'm thinking about trading some tools for this 4x4. This is how he's described some of the problems with it:
"It is a 1986 Bronco II 4x4 with 5-speed with 165K
miles. The smog report is very clean, so the engine &
related systems seem to be sound. I've replaced O2
sensors, EGR, CAT over the years to pass smog, but the
engine is untouched.

The biggest problem is that I can't shift into first
or second. So, I've been using gears 3-4-5 in low
range for city driving and 3-4-5 in high range for
highway. The front hubs are automatic so I
disconnected the front drive shaft, so I can use low
and still be just rear wheel drive for use on
pavement. It's been like that for 18 months. I have
the drive shaft so if you got a used tranny you could
hook the front back up."

My other question is ...IS IT WORTH IT? Am I going to need a new clutch too? (from starting in 3rd gear?for the last 18 months?

EG8 1.5 Single Cam fuel injected automatic 92 model Civic....i had a problem with my vehicle awhile now & can't seem to figure out what is wrong....the engine keeps trimbling during acceleration...if i drive fast it stops....the car starts good it idles a little fast as well ....at first i thought it was the Tranny causing this so i changed it but i ended up with the same trimbling ....i decided to try the engine after ....i changed Head & Block on the engine.....i'm STILL faced with the same TRIMBLING of the engine ..the engine acts like it's straining to pull the car...can anyone tell me what can be causing this problem...?.....i checked the fuel pump filter but it's clean & the pump is pumping fuel....could it be that when there is a great demand for fuel the pump is holding back.....? or the Injectors NOT supplying enough fuel to the engine...?

I do know a little about car engines. but I have always wondered, do the pistons still move when you are not pressing the gas peda?

If a stock enine mixes the air and fluid before it gets inside the cylinders, then supercharging the engine does what.

Why there are no automatic transmition semi tracks. All he ones I have seen so far are manual.

The owners manuals I've seen recommend oil changes every 7,500 miles. Furthermore, Consumer Reports did a study and was unable to see any appreciable difference in engine parts between 3,000 and 6,000 mile changes. Why does everyone suggest 3,000 when it can probably go longer?

Okay.. how do you read the fluid levels on dipsticks?? Is the level of the fluid the part where the fluid is thickest? because there always seems to be a thin thin THIN coating of the fluid above it..
My fiancee just bought a mini-van (used) and its having tranny issues.. he says it wont get in reverse (odd.. and i'm pissed he failed to mention it before!) my dad says it needs Tranny fluid, I've looked and _I_ think it needs tranny fluid.. but my darling fiancee says he doesnt know if it does so he wont add it.
Well I'm not letting him drive it till we can figure it out!
Please help >.<

The check engine light came on, and I took it to Auto Zone as suggested by a friend. I tried to Google the code they gave me, but I couldn't find anything. I can't afford the mechanic's right now, and I need to now if it's safe to drive for a bit or if I should be taking the bus to school. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
