Your transmission will need to be rebuilt. This was a common problem with windstars. If you do a search on windstars, most of the problems were with the transmission.

If it's an automatic, it could be your Synchronizer has gone bad or the gearing is stripped, or you really need transmission fluid and a linkage tightening (try filling your transmission fluid).
If it's a standard, it could be a linkage problem, the gear could have gone out (worn or bent- hear any grinding or clunking from there?), your clutch could be wearing out- I just got my standard back from the dead with a bad clutch, it really goes on and on... you should have a transmission mechanic check it out, but I had a problem with Cottman's, try someone listed with AAA.
