Hahahahahahahhaahah, i am sorry but I had to laugh since YOU put that the car runs like a riding lawn mower. But I'll bet you got the distributer cap soaking wet and it will run like that until it dries out. you should also check the spark plug wires and make sure all of those are fully in. If they are then I'll bet its the cap, you could also go to the local parts store and get a new cap and replace it. Caps are usually cheap but be carefull how u put it back on. Dont Worry this will be ok, it just needs a few things looked at.

How exactly did you "wash" the engine?
If you power-sprayed the stuff under the hood, you likely got water into places where it shouldn't be. Hopefully it'll just dry out, but it's likely you knocked something loose, or gotten water into somewhere it's BAD for the engine.
Time to visit a real mechanic!

make sure you didnt blow off any hoses or switch couplers by the pressure of the water hitting them. also make sure all your spark plug wires are still seated properly. check your air intake filter and make sure you did not saturate it with water, not likely but possible. if you still cant find anything try placing a fan in the engine compartmen and leave it blowing air over engine and components for at least 6 hours to dry things out. good luck.

that is a tremendous question! certain. as a count number of truth you may because you're operating something. The transformations of it are slender and that i do not imagine that they might call it an OWI or DUI. likely disorderly habit or something stupid like that. this is like, you may't force homestead lower than the impact of alcohol from the bar yet, they have huge parking plenty and in my section the taxi's do not run after lifeless night, you need to journey your motorbike to the bar yet you may't journey it homestead lower than the impact of alcohol yet, I easily have not in any respect considered any motorbike racks infront of a bar. And God forbid that you walk homestead cuz you'll get a fee ticket for that too. in case you're using your backyard mower on public roads you'll get a fee ticket in spite of in case you're not any more ingesting. that is how that is in my state it truly is Wisconsin. they're hell bent on giving people tickets for the stupidest issues, like using your backyard mower once you're intoxicated.

to clean an engine use a good degreaser , let it sit for a few minutes to soak in , give engine a light spay with water to remove undiluted degreaser, then start the engine and spray the engine bay out , beware of electronics and air filters

What on earth possessed you to do that?
Usually when a car engine is dirty, it's not something that water alone will wash-off. Degreasers are what cleans an engine.
Let it dry out, and don't do that again! Your car is telling you so!
