There are several different manufactors of rubber liner in a spray can, readily available at your local wal-mart or auto parts store. It provides an effective and long-lasting solution at an affordable price. I use it on older restorations in trunks, on floorboards, and inside door panels. It really helps, and is affordable.

Thin Styrofoam or cork will soundproof it rather well.

dynomat, you just pull up all or the carpet and put it inbetween the carpet and metal. i dont know exact cost for it but i know dynomat will cut the **** out of your hands fyi

dynomatt is the stuff stickey on one side not real cheap
mabey ice gaurd for roofing would work
