Ok, i have never done it before but i think i have a fuel pump that went out on my 1988 Ninety-Eight. Now i am guessing i have to drop the tank to get to the fuel pump but easy is this process? How many bolts do i have to take out and does the car have to be jacked up to get to the pump once its dropped?

Thanks for the answers thus far ppl. Was also wondering how high it has to be jacked up roughly for me to slide the tank out? It can be done with a regular jack placement on the rear bumber area or no?

I once had a 1988 olds 88 regency that I had to replace a fuel pump.
What I did was drain the gas by removing the gas line to the tank, dropped the tank to the ground with the aid of a hydraulic jack. Then I slid the tank out from under the car so I could easily do the work.
Yes, the car need to be jacked up in order for the tank to come out.
Good Luck !

dropping a fuel tank is relativly easy.. two bolts on the straps on the gas tank.. (deep well sockets)

yes wou will wanna jack up the car a bit.. it will make things easier.. this is actually a pretty easy fix.. just time consuming.. you will prob wanna use a floor jack on the tank itself as well to make things easier..

Its a 15 min job if you know what you are doing.. a 2 hour job if you dont..

Just a couple of bolts. It's pretty hard if you don't have the car up a ways.
