My car kind of stalls out whenever I try to accelerate. It feels like it is about to stop and the check engine light flashes, and then it goes. This happens mostly when starting to drive after stopping, and also sometimes when I am already moving and accelerating. Sometimes if I am stopped for awhile, like at a traffic light, it stalls out completely and I have to restart it. I took it to the mechanic and he said he couldn't find anything on the computer. He cleaned the fuel injection and said it is running fine now. Well it's not! I am taking it to the dealer over Thanksgiving, but I will have to drive home from college for a few hours. Does anyone know what's wrong, and will I make it worse by driving that much?

I have a '86 Ford Ranger with an automatic transmission.

I noticed once when he drove it, that after reversing out of a parking space, he put it into "drive" BEFORE it completely stopped. Now, I am not auto technician, but, something tells me that this couldn't be good on the transmission. It seems like that would just be common sense.

So, am I right? If so, just how many times does he have to do this before I am rendered vehicleless?

Do you know of a web site that will CLEARLY point this out?

By the way, the transmission was rebuilt in Oct. '05.

Thanks in advance,

Shannon

My rim on my tC is bent, I cant describe it. It's just...flad on the outside on one part. As if the lip got dented in. Do normal tire shops fix rims? autobody? dealerships? any idea?

I'm in the market for some used rims for a small body truck I just recently aquired. Aside from the obvious bend, what sort of defects, if any, should I be on the look-out for from private sellers?

My car keeps over heating. It's worse now that the weathers colder. What could be the damage if I wait to have it fix?

And- would this affect my smog check? Thanks.

Last week I was driving, just minding my own business and KABOOM!!! my passenger side air bag deployed. There was no accident, I didn't even hit a pot hole. Lucky me! So the insurance won't pay for it and Pontiac won't pay for it, lucky me.

I understand that the car still runs because it was the passenger bag and not the driver side bag, is this true? I just purchased a new windshield as it was shattered. I don't think I can afford a new dashboard and as for the air bag, Midas said the car will still pass inspection if I were to just cut it out and make the best of the cover and; since it is in the thousands of dollars to replace the air bag, I guess I'll just cut it.

All that to say this, how can I safely disable the driver side air bag or the entire system for that matter? Someone told me to pull the fuse. Is this safe? If it is safe, should I disconnect the battery? "They" also said that when I pull it could spark, maybe deploy the airbag. HELP!! PLEASE!!!

hey everyone.. i just bought a used 2000 dodge intrepid. I got it yesterday and it has been working fine, until today sometimes when im stopped, the oil light will light up for a little bit. but once i start to move, it goes away. so i go and buy some oil and put some in, and once i get home and i have the car on sitting in park, there is white exhaust coming from the muffler. (i dont know if it just started doing it after i got the oil, but i strongly doubt thats the problem) On my mom and dads car it doesnt do this, so i am looking to you car experts for some help.

what does this mean? Is it serious? If you need more information, email me @ sportzplaya4life@hotmail.com

UPDATE* right as i was finishing this, when my dad got to his house he called me and told me his was doing it also (2006 GTO). So we think it is just because we were driving in my car and not his. But just to make sure, is this a problem?

I need to know how important these things are to get fixed. Can I drive it for a few days or do I need to take it in NOW, or not worry about them at all? Here in Oklahoma we don't need to get our cars inspected, so if that's all its for that wouldn't be a problem. I know almost nothing about cars, please help. Also any ideas on about how much it should cost and how long it'd take? Thank you!
