Its the float in the tank bobbing up and down maybe?

I would agree with the second answer. you could probably park it uphill and it would read lets say full, and park downhill and it would say 1/2 tank. This is because it is reading the level where the float is inside of the tank. Much like if you were to stick your finger in a glass of water on the side, and tilt the glass away from your finger, the water would stay level, and would move away from your finger.
Hope this helped explain what I think that it MIGHT be.
I wouldn't worry about it.

Not to sound dumb, but it's just a GM thing, they've done it for years in all kinds of vehicles - had a 91 Beretta did the same thing, so does my 91 s-10.

My friend advised it may be alternator charging problem, he had a similar problem with a 35 year old vehicle.
The regulator has been replaced...
