Last week I was driving, just minding my own business and KABOOM!!! my passenger side air bag deployed. There was no accident, I didn't even hit a pot hole. Lucky me! So the insurance won't pay for it and Pontiac won't pay for it, lucky me.

I understand that the car still runs because it was the passenger bag and not the driver side bag, is this true? I just purchased a new windshield as it was shattered. I don't think I can afford a new dashboard and as for the air bag, Midas said the car will still pass inspection if I were to just cut it out and make the best of the cover and; since it is in the thousands of dollars to replace the air bag, I guess I'll just cut it.

All that to say this, how can I safely disable the driver side air bag or the entire system for that matter? Someone told me to pull the fuse. Is this safe? If it is safe, should I disconnect the battery? "They" also said that when I pull it could spark, maybe deploy the airbag. HELP!! PLEASE!!!

In never heard this happening to anyone before, i'm glad it was the passenger side airbag and that your ok.
Hey you would just unplug the battery and if it has ABS which i am sure of just unplug the battery and pump the brake pedal from awhile to drain the electricity it has left. Or put the two battery post on each other and it will drain the electricty also. so then you will be sure it won't pop when you unplug it
And remember to pull the fuse out after too just to be sure.

I have pulled the fuses on several vehicles and I have had no problems with it, just don't sit in front of the airbag when you do, so if it does go off it won't hit you.
