could be a number of problems, "by all means" start with fluid level, if thats ok, it could be torque converter, bands, valve body, etc.
you may need to have someone you know, "who has a little experience" to look at it for you.
good luck.
PS...it is definately NOT your crankshaft.

First check your transmission fluid, - (check with engine running-otherwise you will get a "false" reading). If it is full you have some internal problem with transmission! So lets start with questiion, -- does it work better when engine is heated up? If so you probably have a plugged transmission oil filter,-(you should have same problem with reverse also - if filter plugged). Next,- does it work ok when you put the transmissionin the lowest range (for foreward motion), -- if it works here, it probably has a plugged valve body, which is still an "external" repair, -- it requires dropping the "oil pan" on transmission, (just as oil filter does),-- but it can be done without removing the transmission and disassembling it! If none of these these checks makes the transmission work properly, then you have a "big problem",and the transmission needs replaced!

Pull the dipstick for tht transmission and smell the oil, -- it may have a "burnt smell", - and be all "blackish" in color, - this is a confirmatiion that something inside is going bad! If oil in good conditon, it will just smell "like oil", - and have a reddish color (even if somewhat dirty), - as transmission oil color is red!

It sounds like the bands need adjusting. If it's fine in L and R then I doubt that it's a serious problem with fluid levels (but it's possible). So check the fluid level according to manufacturer's specs and if it's okay you need a transmission service done, and adjusting the bands and checking all the hydraulics is part of this. It should be serviced at regular intervals anyway.

Start with the easy least expensive stuff, fluid, tranny filter, then go up from there.
