I have recently posted a question, and people are responding to it by asking me questions. I would like to be able to answer the questions that I am being asked. I see nowhere to respond to them.

And, if I do respond will this stop my post?

My car was sitting in my driveway at night. Some ones car ran into it causeing the car to be undrivable. He left his Telephone # when i called he seemed as if he wanted to work to get it resolved. But refused to give any insurance info or license info. He gave us his name and we opened a poilce report. The police have not been able to contact him. His laywer called the officer so we now have his laywers number. When we called he refused to talk to us or give any info on how to contact the person who hit the car. Since that time the person who hit the car has disconnected his number. I have no idea what to do at this point and was looking for information on what I can do. The estimates on the car are a little over 3000 so we would like to sue him in Small claims court.

I have a 1985 volvo I have been trying to get road ready. I have put in a new battery and run it every couple days so it won't die in the meantime. I am getting 4 tires i will need mounted, the fluids changed to get it ready for smog and now while running it today, i noticed a hole in the bottom of the muffler (?) - where the tail pipe comes out of and it's dripping the same reddish/orange fluid that comes out of the tailpipe when you start your car(which I was told is normal). Clearly, there is not supposed to be a hole there and it drips the fluid rapidly when running. So, is it safe to run it to keep it alive and where can I go to get everything fixed at once, that's inexpensive yet reliable - since I need so much done, I'm hoping for a deal. On a tight budget and this could really screw my plan to get the car on the road in the next month! It would be Carlsbad area...I don't want to take it far b/c of the damn drip. Any suggestions wpuld be great!

When I did it I couldnt have been moving more then 5-7mph and my car only went about 10 feet but I heard an awful clicking noise. As soon as I heard then noise i was able to get it back to drive and when I stopped and put it into park it seemed to be fine. I have a '97 GMC Jimmy if that makes any difference. Please help.

I have a 1986 Ford Ranger 4x4, 2.9, V6. I tried starting it, and it acted like it was going to start, then COMPLETELY lost ALL power. I had the battery tested, which ended up being "good."

I realize that it could be a wiring problem. But, is there anything else it could be?

What is the least costly way to troubleshoot this? Do you know of any good sites, or advice to give me?

I greatly appreciate it. I am a single mother, and need a vehicle.

Thanks, Shannon

if a clutch went out and it was melted when the mechanic looked at it what does that mean? Does it mean it was becuz the driver was ripping around or didn't know how to drive the clutch. This car is used and has 100 some miles on it and we bought it used and when the clutch went out ..the place we got it at looked at it and is trying to blame it on the driver. Isn't possible something could of been wrong w/ the clutch to begin with and it wasn't the drivers fault. This happened only 2 days after we bought the car. What do you think?

I own a 1994 (M) Ford Escort 1.3, it is a lovely economical little car ideal for getting me to work and back. But of late it is making a noise which is not disrupting the drive quality of the vehicle. When the engine warms up, so drive it for 15 minutes sort of things, a tinny grinding comes from underneath the front of the car area, squealing sort of noise when you pull away, say from stationary or when you drop down a gear to slow down and then apply pressure to the accelerator again. Also when the vehicle gets hot it will make this noise constantly when standing still in neutral basically sounds like a Kitten with a sore throat screaming trapped under the car. It is not an over-heating problem, hence Head Gasket ive checked that, despite having done 117,000 miles the clutch is fine, and in neutral it still makes the noise so it cant be the clutch or gearbox. Someone has told me the Water Pump being broken or on the way out is a big possibility. Any ideas? Any help appreciated.
