i went and got a card rebuild kit for the 1 barrel rochester carb on my 64 corvair. the pic an parts for the rebuild vary just a little as far as internal parts. now the kit is for more than one model of this carb. so is the pic a "general" like a car manual... and alter the replacement to match what was found in the begining... or do i have a problem?

I have lived in the mid-south all of my life, and while it gets cold and sometimes snows here, its never been below double digits in my lifetime. However at the end of October I am moving up north to south central Michigan, and I KNOW it will be cold up there! Is there anything I need to do to ensure my car can make it through the winter? It will be parked outside daily. (no garage)
Someone mentioned I'd need an antifreeze that could withstand even colder temperatures....but is there anything else?
Much appreciated!!

i bought this car 2 years ago with 78,000 miles on it. the car now has 101,000 miles on it. in that amount of time ive had to have the following problems in order fixed some of them may be related. My uncle did some of the work on this car so its less expensive the normal and i dont remeber exactly how much everything cost but ive put atleast $2325 in maintenence into this car since ive bought it.($3825 with work that needs to be done now) 1. timing belt had to be replaced (about $400? it was a long time ago) 2. spark plug wires had to be replaced(aprox.$100) engine ran on 3 cylinders and caused 4. engine had to be replaced (atleast $1400) 5. somekind of vacuum tube/line problem(aprox.$100) 6. tie rods had to be changed(aprox.$200) caused- 7 two tires which i purchased when it got the car were worn down had to be replaced($125) which led to my uncle noticing the bad tie rods 8. transmission has to be replaced. (1500). Is my car cursed or would this be my last major problem 4 a while?

The driver side window will go down but will not go back up. The other windows have no problems. Everywhere I call they say I have to go to the dealer to fix it. The dealer is expensive. Why can't anybody else fix this problem?

That should be ok so long as I don't do this often, right? Also ethanol has no affect on my turbo , so long as I continue to use premium fuel, right?

This is part 2 of my 1st post. So people got mix feelings for synthetic motor oil but I have a 2001 Toyota Sequoia with barely 40000 miles. My question are:
1) Should I continue to use synthetic motor oil recommended by the dealer? (Mobil 1 synthetic oil)
2) or should I or can I change back to the regular motor oil to save money?
3) any obvious benefits for my car to use synthetic oil? better mileage, good for the engine.. etc.
I live in Los Angeles, so better part of the year is not that hot anyway and my work is onlyaverage 8 miles a day or less.

My 1992 dodge b250 van runs good and only blows a little black smoke until it gets warmed up. Then after you turn it off and wait maybe 5 minutes and try to crank it you have to hold it to the floor before it will crank and when it does it sounds like it is sucking way too much air and you have to keep your foot on the gas to keep it running. Then whenever you mash the gas it blows black smoke and it won't open up.The more you mash the gas, the more black smoke comes out the exhaust. "

The brushes and springs fell out before I could see them and I don't know what order the brushes should be placed in around the commutator. Brushes 1 & 2 are on the positive side of the AC cord and 3 & 4 are on the negative side. I tried 1,3,2,4 and the gear did not throw out. I tried 1,2,3,4 and nothing happened except an electrical grinding noise.
