What is the best way to remove years of grime off my engineThe block is sitting in the suluvant tank right now, im trying to clean it, but the crud just wont come off. Anyone have any ideas?

If the solvent won't work, take it to a car wash and use the high pressure wash wand on it. It may take a couple trys, but they work fairly well. You may also use a putty knife scraper on it to remove the heavy grime before washing.

SAND BLAST IT but be sure to cover all the oil galleys first, you dont want any sillica sand in there. if not you may be able to find someone who can blast it with walnut shells, those will not do damage to the internal parts of the engine after it's reassembled.

Do you know anyone with a portable steam cleaner? If so, maybe he will bring his skill and steam cleaner to your vehicle. With this type of equipment, this is not a do-it-yourself job.

Steam clean, buy one from DIY store there inexpensive & di it yourself. I did mine recently and the only thing Iknow about my car is it's a merc. and it's black.

pressure washer is best bet......a cheapy from wally world,big lots,works great for your needs....will last a while too.or load it in back of pick up &go to car wash.
