Sell it for junk. You got suckered. Sounds like you have a blown engine, but get it checked out by a mechanic who knows what he's doing like you should have done before you bought the piece of crap.

I am not sure about the reasons for not starting, but it sounds fixable.
Have you tested the battery to see if it is dead?
Let me give you another bit of help.Remove the thermostat and it won't overheat.
You can replace it or leave it out.
Flush your radiator too, pull the plug on that thing and drain it.
Put in a 50/50 mix of water and anti-freeze and it will last a long time.
Lift your hood to see if the fan is working. Some of them do not run all the time, they are regulated.
To start it you can jump it with cables.Recharge the battery the first chance you get if it is dead.
Your alternator charges your battery, check to see if it is dead.
If it is you can still start the car by using pliers to provide the jump over.
Put one end of them on one screw of the alternator and the the other end on the other screw.
Be ready to do that each time that you start it until you get a new alternator.
It is replaceable by you if you try.

If the fan is missing or broke that would allow your car to overheat in slow traffic or idling. It would not be a big problem at road speed. Check your radiator to make sure you have coolant. If not, fill it up. If it goes down again, you might have a blown headgasket.

If you allowed it to run while hot ( you did not shut it off) you can have warped the valves, you can have done serouis internal damage to the car.

If it won't even turn over this is a good chance to have happeend.

I would not try to start it again and get it towed into a good shop and have it checked, it very possible could be the entire engine is now a good boat anchor

It sounds like you blew the head-gasket Check for water in the oil.the oil will look like a milk shake. Do a CO-2 test on the cooling system to be sure or compression test of every cylinder.

you are pretty screwed. It will cost ~ $2000 to fix or you could just get a new car. Never drive a car that is overheating- pull over and let it cool.
