I was at a party and I was asked to give an intoxicated man a ride home cause we lived fairly close to one another. I agreed but while driving him home I was cited for speed contest (streetracing) and later resolved that issue. The state then sent me a letter requesting proof of my auto insurance and that if I could not prove it my license would be suspended. I sent them my information and they told me they would need it for the car I was driving. My insurance will cover me driving another car, but that was not good enough. I told the state I was in a strangers car and they would not give me any information so that i can find the intoxicated person who owned the car. What can I do so I don't loose my license?

I never had insurance before and am getting insurance from one company for a month and then switching. Does that look bad on some kind of record (meaning it will affect my rates in the future?)?

ok, a friend of mine is 21 and living at home with her parents, she wants to get her car/insurance.. they say that if she gets her own insurance at their address then their rate will go up, I told her that this is false, only her insurance will be her responsibility and her parents will have nothing to do with it.. meaning no surcharges on their plan, or an additional payment on their plan, even if they are with the same company... is this correct or am I making an @ss out of myself????

please answer with as much detail as possible, not just a "correct" or a "no"

I am considering switching my Auto Coverage (from Farmer's) to Progressive and would like to hear about anyone's experience in having to file a claim with them after an unfortunate accident.
I am in the process of getting an online quote from them.

Thanks.

Car in front of me stopped suddenly to make a left hand turn at a right banking corner. He almost had to make a small u-turn to make it. In any case I hit him. We get out look at damage to our cars. He has an old Corvette with metal bumpers and I have a plastic mini van. He looked fine, I took a little bumper damage. We exchanged insurance, drivers #'s and contact info just out of reaction that we felt like we should do something. Now he's calling me telling me he took his car in and there is $2000 worth of damage. I think he's pulling something. If no police report was made out and I have not called my insurance yet, where do I stand? Am I liable at all? Should I tell him to contact his or my insurance company? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I was recently in a mans vehicle when he wrecked, I was pretty seriously injured, and now have a lot of medical bills, and surgery bills. I know that he has a full coverage policy with Geico, because they have contacted me, and told me that. The only thing that they will not tell me is his personal limits. I have found out though that He has a history of accidents, and DUI'S. I do not know if that has any affect on his limits or not. I am just concerened about my bills getting paid, and my reimbursement for my lost time, and pain and suffering.

The policy holder of the at fault vehicle was in the passenger seat. The driver is not on the policy though. My car was badly damaged. I will have to miss work and school, my passenger was injured and so was I. The at fault driver hit me while trying to make a u-turn from the right lane. They both admitted fault.

I have a 99 GST Turbo Convertible Eclipse Spyder that I bought a few years ago with a Rebuilt Salvage title. You would not even be able to tell that it was in an accident. It looks great.

I have been putting a lot of money in the car fixing it up (making it look nice and faster) and one of my friends told me the other day that if something happened to my car I would get practically nothing since it has a Rebuilt Salvage title. Is this True?

I have only had liability since I bought it and this has never came up before.

So assuming that I get hit tomorrow by a car that is insured and it totals out my car, how much of my car's worth would I get? What about all the money in parts and accessories that I put into it?

I got a dui years ago and have now saved enough to buy my car and get it on the road. The risk of my age and record, I found myself going through an insurance company that looks like it literally has holes in the wall. Their advertisement is that they will accept anyone. And they will for the month to month price they can get. I noticed they copied down the wrong vin number for my vehicle. They stated that it was not important for sr22's. I had some spare time later and went back with the correct one written down for them to copy. In front of me they wrote down the wrong number off the sheet I handed them. "well okay... I'm just going to write down this". "it shouldn't be a problem" Is basically what they said to me during the process. is there any reason they would avoid using correct info? Or is it really just not that important?
(PS The number on my mailed insurance cards is incorrect and I just wrecked the car last week).

Is it true that the registered owner of the car HAS to be the primary driver on the insurance application?
Also, what if my friend or someone else wants to drive my car? Are they not allowed to or are they covered under my insurance? I've heard people saying that the car is insured, not the person, so if the car is insured, then shouldn't anyone be able to drive it?
