When i purchased my car 2 years ago my father put it in his name because my credit was shaky....now I need to ship my car to Hawaii and the military told me if my name isn't on it they won't ship it. Does anyone know if there is any way around this besides shipping it on my own and paying for it myself?? In the state of PA is there anyway to be put on the registration w/o being the actual lease holder?

Unless the financial institution will allow you to add your name on the lease or purchase contract. Other than that you both have to start a brand new lease or purchase contract to see if you can be added. It's like refinancing with some changes. For the PA DMV question you have to call them and ask if they have some type of military exemption or form to have your name added on the registration. But your father will need to be present for both transactions. But the military will not ship anything out that doesn't have the same matching name as the person whom has orders. The only other thing is a power of attorney from your father to give you rights however that too is 50/50. Best of Luck!

Neither of the answers above are going to do you any good. They will only pay for it if you are wither going over seas(outside continental US) or the command itself is doing a change of duty station.

The car must be in your name, however just because your father has the loan doesn't mean your name cannot be on the title as well. People buy other people cars all the time. Now what I would do is talk to the leinholder(the company who he got the loan from) and see if they require only his name. If the loan is paid off or they don't require it you can have your name added to the title of the car. The title can be in more than one name. This will suffice the military for change of duty station shipment of your vehicle. Also talk to your personal property office. The move counselor they assign you probably has dealt with this before. They can help you out!

Hello, im in the military..... to ship a vehicle you, as a soldier has to have orders to go somewheres, lets say a military base in CA, Ft Irwin..... for example....., then the Army will ship 1 car and 1 only at their expense to that base..... other than that it isnt that expensive to ship vehicles.

I shipped my Blazer from germany to Baltimore for $1200 and they cleared it through customs.....

You would have a problem getting your name on the title if payments are still being made.
