It depends on the company. Some companies want everyone living in the same household to be on the same policy. Most companies will require you to have a separate policy since it is titled to you. If you are old enough to buy a car you are old enough to pay your own insurance instead of running it thru your mom and dad.

If the car is in your name, I believe the insurance will also need to be. Your parents cannot insure a car they do not own. If you live at home with your parents, they may get a multi-car discount if you have the same insurance company.

As the owner and primary driver of the car, the policy will have to be in your name. Sorry. You'll have to figure the cost of insurance into your plans.

If you are still a member of your parents household you can most certainly be listed under parents household, if you no longer are living under your parents roof you would need to get your own policy.
