First offense in 8 years. Pulled over on the interstate for 81 mph in 65 mph zone.

The fine is a hefty $236 and 4 points on the record. I'm not sure what is taken into consideration when coming up with the citation penalty but in any case I got busted for speeding once 8 years ago and was issued a written warning in 5 years ago. So, no violations in the past five years.

What are the chances I could get a fine / point reduction and possible a violation change to something that wouldn't impact my insurance premiums? Does the court leniency based on economic hardship? (I'm a poor grad student).

A colleague suggested I attend a defensive driving course and bring evidence to that affect to the court appearance. In doing so he thought I might get a point reduction.

I have a good driving record, but my husband is a HORRIBLE driver. He gets 2 or 3 speeding tickets a year. We have been dropped by our insurance company and need new insurance. Any advice on what company or what would be the best thing to do in this situation? We have excellent credit, etc. so the only problem is his driving record.

I'm insured with Geico currently I pay 326 for 6 months liability only on a 93 SL2 Saturn. I'm looking to buy a Jeep Liberty, I really like them, they gave me a rough quote of 1210, every 6 months. Does this seem a bit high, never been in a crash & have a clean driving record. I've always had really good rates... Does this seem about right?

My daughters car was written off by her insurance company following an attempted robbery. What happens to the car? The garage seemed to have fixed it when she went to collect her personal possessions from it!

I was involved in a car accident where I was rear-ended and my car is not operable. I have to work and have no money for a rental car. I have no credit card or anyone who can loan me money. The insurance company of the person who hit me says I have to pay and they will repay me when claim is processed.

recently i have had 3 points in my limited 1 year. So the dmv has suspended my license until 6 months. After that 6 months i will be able to drive again but in under terms of probation for the 6 months. My terms of probation are if i get into and accidents my fault or get any ticket my license will be suspended again. Should i take the risk of driving again? Or just wait 1 year until my probation is over.

These premiums would add at least 10% to my car insurance premium.

Is it really worth it - or is it just another 'protection' con?

I am purchasing a vehicle from kansas and i live in washington state. I was just wondering how i go about finding out what the state laws require in order for me to get it licensed, title, etc.
my vin# only has 13 digits and i am having a problem finding a site that will allow vin#'s with less than 17 characters.
Without actually going thru all of the hoops with the state, i would like to just run the vin#'s just to make sure everything is as said.
Does anyone know where or how?

Ok I need your help. What would you do.
My neighbors from across the street park their car on the street ALL THE TIME. They have extra space on their drive way but never park on it. It is always a mission trying to get our cars out of our driveway when their huge SUV with a trailer attached to the back is parked right in the way. We have let this go on for 2 years and never once complained. Last night my boyfriend and I were leaving to go out to dinner and he didn’t see the black Toyota that was parked in the street, and SURPRISE, he hit it. There was a small dent on their car and scratches on ours. Our neighbors called the cops (I assume they thought it was completely our fault by the way they were so quick to act) and long story short the cop showed up and after analyzing the situation told us we were not at fault because in the city we live it is illegal to park your car in the middle of the street. The owner of the illegally parked car still came up to us after the police officer told us we could leave and asked if she should get our insurance info from the police report, (which I assume it is for the purpose of trying to get our insurance to pay for it).
My question is: My boyfriend feels bad, and bless his soul, wants to send the girl a check for $100. I was advised he shouldn’t do this because if he does it would mean he is kind of taking the fault and our insurance policy might even drop us or raise their rates. What do you think? Would you send them cash? Or just let it go and let their insurance pay for it? THANKS!

My first car--and I haven't a clue about what car insurance to get. At the website they ask questions and I'm not sure what they mean...
This is what I want: I want my car to be covered in an accident, I want some money if I get hurt. If I get sued/it's my fault, I don't want to pay a lot out of pocket. Is that so much to ask? Thanks for your help!

I just got one for 15 over in a 65. It's a 4 point violation and traffic school will discount the violation by 3 points. Does Geico auto insurance base it's premiums on the existence of a citation regardless of the points assessed or would receiving a citation and without having been assessed points avoid a premium hike?
