Take a policy that offers monthly payments and cancel after six months. Just check before taking out the policy that you are paying the insurance company monthly and not the other way, where the premium is paid in full at the beginning and you then have a credit agreement with a sub-contracted finance company who then takes the monthly payments on the insurance companys behalf. as stopping the payments in this case could affect your credit rating.

There are insurance companies that sell insurance monthly. See if you can get that. I think that State Farm offers that. . .

geico does 6 month plans. i have them and have been very happy.
btw, if you sell your car before your policy is up, getting your money back isn't an issue no matter which company you go with.
