These premiums would add at least 10% to my car insurance premium.

Is it really worth it - or is it just another 'protection' con?

I don't have it myself.

I have legal protection cover included for free in my Home Contents Insurance.

My car was written off a few years ago whilst parked. I had uninsured losses which i claimed back from the person who cause the damage. I got legal advise using my Home Insurance contents cover.

I also used them a few years ago when I had a personally injury claim after a bad fall due to negligence in a supermarket.

Personally I do not see why you need to buy more than one Legal Cover Policy.

Just another con, I had to use it with my car insurance someone drove into me and drove off. In the end they forgot who their client was and started taking instructiongs from the otherside.

I had it on both insurance policies and only need it on home, but would check with your insurance company first to check the position.

If everything works ok, you comprehensive and other driver insured and gives correct details then no, you probably don't need the extra cover. Otherwise it could be useful if you have to go to court for recovery of uninsured losses (excess, time off work, damage to contents of car &c.)

A total waste of money. Your insurance company has an army of lawyers on staff -- what do YOU need with one?
