i was on a on-ramp to an interstate highway when a racoon/beaver came in the way and to avoid it i swirved while turning and lost control. the car hit the sidewalk did a 180 and was facing the other way of the ramp.

During all this the only visible damange to the car is the scratched rim, not even bent, front bumper is a little scratched from hitting the sidewalk which made it to come out just very little from the driver's side. and both the driver's front airbag and the passengers front air bag were deployed.
However there was no passenger in the car, and the side airbags didn't deploy.

no other car hit me. the officer and the tow truck people said that the airbags shouldn't have deployed and that you can go after the manufacturer. I have no idea what to do at this point. i didn't report it to insurance yet. i am a NJ resident. Some people are saying the premium will not be effected by this and some say it will increase by 1.75%

what are my options??

Say you had a valid license, but didn't have the physical card on you. What are the penalties (I know they may range from state to state), but in general. And if you want to be specific - what are the penalties in Maine?

Cheers!

Im buying my first car in a month, I know I can tranfer the title without having a license, but can I insure and register the car without having one? The car isnt going to be driven for a bit, but I know Ill have to insure it and register it a certain number of days after I buy it. Can I do all this without having my license if I dont plan on driving the car?

I am having to phone AllState again and again after I was in a car wreck, as they said they would pay for the car damage but they keep trying to avoid paying. I am getting so stressed by the phone calls - and I was injured so the whole thing is a real pain in the neck (feeble attempt at joke...). How can I reduce the stress (don't say massage or yoga please!!!!!). Should I get an attorney? Or is there some way to be firm but polite on the phone while I ask for what is rightfully due (from what I have heard about car insurance after a wreck). Any clues how to deal with the evil insurance adjuster on the end of the phone? This is really upsetting me, and it was bad enough being in the wreck.

My wife got into a car accident on 2/2004. The accident may have been her fault, as she did not see the speeding car when she proceeded from a stop sign. I far as I know the damage was not too bad. No injuries were reported. We exchanged information. No police report filed. We both have the same insurance company, but the ins. co. said our policy was cancelled. We were with the ins. co. for 7 years. Apparently what happened is the ins. co. did not process our check for payment. Several months later the accident occurred. A representative from the ins. co. asked me several questions which were recorded about the dispute whether or not I was insured, and about the accident. I never heard anything else from the Insurance Company other than a couple of letters stating I was not covered by the ins. co when the accident occurred. On 9/2006, over two years later, I received a call from a collection agency saying I must pay 14,000. Is this valid? Ca. has 2 year statue of limitation law.

Last week a lady filed a police report claiming I hit her parked car. I never felt anything backing out and there was no damage done to my car. After speaking with the cop I called her asking to get an estimate of the damage and if there was major damage I don't believe it was my car that could have done it. Got the estimateof $941. I called my insurance and they had two adjusters look at her car and mine. They said the amount of damage done to her car would have caused damage to mine so they are denying the claim. She is telling the adjustor that I told her I might have done it and stuff about my car looking polished in the front and that might be the point of impact. I told her from the beginning I wanted an expert to examine the cars and I would take responsibility only if I knew for sure I scratched her car. This woman is trying whatever she can to have her car fixed.

What can she do now to try and get me to pay for her damages? Is it likely that someone will make me pay?

I was involved in a Severe rollover accident casused by a reckless driver in April 06. Resulting in a total car loss, Injuries to my spine (Herniated C5-C6) Torn ligament in my left arm and Left Knee.
7 months of therapy.$30,000 Medical Bills to date. No real recovery yet. If he only has 300/100 coverage,
can I only expect 100,000 at the end of the proverbial rainbow?
Or am I not understanding the injury claim incorrectly.
-$30,000 Legal
-$30,000 MED
And the rest to me?
Is this how this whole thing works or not Can I go after this moron in a civil trial and get more. I dont mean to sound greedy but this guy potentialy ruined my career (GOLF PROFESSIONAL) . If I cant play I cant eat, pay rent etc.............
Thanks everyone

There's probably 100's of car insurance companies. What do you have? Are you happy with it? How do the rates compare? How do you get treated after a claim? Ever dealt with those advertised on TV? Who have you had bad experiences with?

I am unsure of how this works out first off do you have to be 18 to have a car in your name or do you have to have a parent or guardian sigh as well? Do you need to have a licences at the time of your name being put as title owner ? Do you need insurence be for you can get the title or when you get it you can it and list the car as unactive?

My husband was waiting in a line of traffic while another car turned off the road and was rear ended by a pick-up going about 50mph, he was hit from the rear and then my husband hit the car in front and so on. Here's the problem... We are in our 60s and have a very tight budget. That car - a 2003 Honda SUV was suppose to last us another 10 years. It only had 40,000 miles on it and was in perfect condition. Not a scratch (I always park away from the crowd). So, the insurance co. has said they would give us $15,000 for the tottaled car, but the new SUVs cost over $20,000. Never having an accident before, we thought that our insurance would pay the value of the car and the car at faults insurance company would pay the difference for a new car. Found out that is not the way it works. So, we have been paying the insurance company for car insurance for about 40 years without any claims and now when we need them we find that they will not replace the car. Is this right?
