You wait. You may want to check with the insurance company and see if they will help out with a rental. Until the car is found there is really nothing that can be paid out. This is a terrible position to be in. I had a customer’s car stolen from my lot about 5 years ago. We where lucky because at the time it had a problem with the fuel pump and they only made it about 2 miles from my shop. I took care of all the damage done to the car since it was in my care at the time and I even resolved the issue for him at no cost. (I felt terrible) needless to say he has sent me a lot of customers since then, but I digress. The police have a hot sheet of stolen cars they have to look out for everyday. This often is sent to a national data base for all states. It is likely you will see the car again by the end of the week. However I do not think you will like what has been done to the car (they are often trashed) check and see if you can get a rental with the help from the insurance I would do that. Other wise you may need to pick up a $500.00 Junker.

Felise, the correct answer is that you've done pretty much all you can do...now you need to come up with a means of transportation. Call your insurance agent and see if your policy covers car rental expense (it should). Use the rental car for as long as the insurance company will cover it; that's why you're paying premiums- for times like this. IF for some reason they don't cover rentals, then consider doing what a poster above suggested...buying a cheap "beater" to drive temporarily...it might end up being cheaper than paying for an extended rental, plus you can sell the "beater" later when things are settled.
If your car is found, hopefully it will be whole and undamaged, but the reality is that most likely it will be stripped and/or damaged. If it's fixable, the insurance company will pay for the repairs. If it is considered a total loss, then the insurance company will pay for the current value of the car (unless it was a brand new vehicle, the amount you get probably won't replace the car with the exact same model- sad but true). Then you take that money and try to find a new vehicle. I know, it sucks...but try to make the best deal you can.
Good Luck to you. I hope they find the car undamaged and intact...that would be the best outcome for you.

I had a vehicle stolen, so i know exactly how you feel. Get a rental car if you haven't already to meet your transportation needs, and just wait. Most insurance company's are going to wait 21 days before a settlement because at 21 days there is a near 100% chance your car will never turn up again. The best chance of finding it is 3 days.
Mine was stolen almost 2 years ago. Still a no show.

You did the right thing so far. Now if you have rental on your insurance your all set. But if not your on your own. The main thing is to keep on your insurance company make sure they process the claim, and make sure you get a fair settlement. Unfortunately it's a waiting game, insurance companies like to drag their feet, hoping your car is recovered. Just make sure the police do a complete report, that helps cover you and speeds up insurance.

Your car insurance company will probably not want to cough out for a car rental, and if they do you will have to arrange the payment directly from your pocket to the rental company and the Insurance company will reimburse you.
Sit patiently!

If it isnt recovered within 30 days, the insurance company will determine that it is a total loss.

Find out if your insurance covers car rental. If not, you have to find another way to get around until they either find it or cut you a check to replace it.

you wait. chances are you will never find it. My father-in-law had his truck stolen and they never found it, I'm not sure how hard they even look for stolen vehicles.
