I got in a minor accident and my car is going to be in the shop for a few days. insurance says they cover up to $23/day. i rented cars in the past and i remember it started at around that price and nothing came out of pocket but i went to the enterprise car rental website and the cheapest car is $37/day. why is that? did they go up that much in price in the last 3-4 years? i doubt that is possible. can someone explain?

I was rear-ended and the damages were $13,000. Vehicle was repaired and I attempted to negotiate with Farmers Insurance for DV. They stonewalled me. Next I hired a speciality firm to give me a DV claim report, which they claimed would have the insurance company jumping on the phone to call me and settle out of court. They did not, they offered me nothing. Now I have sent a demand letter to the driver for the claim--which is also supposed to get his insurance company jumping on the phone to settle out of court. But what if they don't? If I do go to court, what are my chances? A lawyer told me small claims is great with this stuff, however I find it very strange that googling seems to find no one out there talking about winning DV in court. It seems that you either deal with a good insurance company and they will settle with you immediately, or you struggle against them and get nothing. Farmers even cheated me out a week's car rental, saying the "repair took too long"!

Ya, dads gone. His car sits in the garage. Does the car need insurance, better yet -does my mom need to pay the premium?

The only time the car will be used is when one of the three kids use it to run an errand or just to start it and drive it.

Would'nt the kids insurance cover it (all 3 have insurance on their own vehicles)?

I just want to remove a burdensome payment off my Mother until the car is sold.

There's nothing unusual about my jeep except that it was in a wreck before I bought it, and it used to have a salvage title. Why would it get this new weird title saying 'specially constructed'? And what does this mean?

A few weeks ago I cracked my oil pan which resulted in major engine damage. I initially called my insurance company about the cracked oil pan and they said it would be covered under 'collision.' They then told me it wouldn't be worth paying the $500 deductible when the cost to fix it would be $300. After getting the oil pan replaced, it was discovered that there was also major engine damage resulting in the car needing a new engine. I still owe $9000 on the car and have full coverage. I can't sell it without a working engine. So, I'm wondering if my insurance will cover the cost for a new engine ($3000 or so) or not. Any help would be greatful. Thank you.

well im 18 years old and i just got my second wreck for the year. i have state farmers insurance and i am under my dads policy and i drive a 97 chevy z71. well i pay my insurance every six months and i would like to know how much will my insurance go up. Before the wrecks i payed about 600 every 6 months and i still havent payed the bill with my 1st accident. will my dads insurance go through the roof on this second accident...this accident was 100% my fault. luckily in both accidents they were minor damages. the 1st accident was just the fron taillight and this second one was just her front side. my truck didnt get damages since she hit my tire and nothing is wrong with it.

What should I expect when I get it renewed; will they notify the other state, give me a fine, etc.? I've been driving the whole time; should I lie if they ask?

Someone once told me that we do not have to carry insurance for our 2nd car if we have full coverage on our first car. All of our cars are fully paid off and we are not worried about the cost of damage to them if an accident should occur. We just want to know if we would be covered and to make sure we are not overly paying for insurance for a 2nd vehicle if we really do not need it. Our insurance agent said two things, which did not make sense. It just seems like he wants to have us covered for a rain drop falling on our head and more $ in his pocket.

Thanks for your advice! We appreciate it! :)

Whether it's for injuries, property damage, etc., I'm blown away how litigious a society we live in. many only hear about the large verdicts plaintiffs get and never the small or even defense verdicts of $0. The last three trials I've beeen involved (yes, on the defense side) netted the plaintiffs a combined $618.50. I spent nearly $100,000 defending them and would do it again. Two of them left offers on the table and one is paying some of our costs. Do people understand that can happen? Adjustors handle and settle many more claims than any single attorney does in the same period. Many adjustors settle more claims in three months than some attorneys do in a year.
Insurance is not a lottery. You get what your owed; no more/no less. Attorneys serve a good purpose and are appropriate in some cases but try and work out your differences with the insurance company first before running to one. There are 'bum' insurance adjustors out there but most are reasonable and they cost nothing.

I purchased a car about a year ago, but it was placed under my dad's name due to insurance reasons. I needed to produce paperwork in regards to it recently and it was assumed the car wasn't my property due to this. I plan on getting the title and registration in my name, but what is the process exactly?
