the driving test in the UK was introduced on 1st Jan 1934, with all licence holders prior to that date having grand father rights and not required to take any form of test.

This included my late grandfather ...in turn he was such an expert driver he was able to advertise a car for sale with second and top gear unused!!!!!!!!!!!!

It depends on your local office and possibly the time of year. I know that in our local office during the summer the road tests start at 8 a.m. During other times of the year, especially when they are short handed, testing could begin as late as 2 p.m. Then again, this is a small city. = D
