I am currently 16 and still have not gotten my driver's permit yet. I am not sure if you have to show insurance to get it. I live in Tennessee. Thanks.

all states require insurance. in ohio, u will wind up losing ur license, license plates, even get ur car impounded if u are caught driving without insurance.
since ur a new driver, ur dad will have already added u to his insurance, so u'll be fully legal. some examiners will ask for the insurance card, others wont. just have it with u just in case they do. by law in ohio, if u dont have an insurance card that shows that the insurance is up to date, or a card that is expired, the cop will automatically assume u dont have insurance, and they will automatically tow and impound the car until u can prove to the court u have insurance.
insurance isnt required until u are going to take a car on the road, and in ur case, being on a permit, u need a licensed driver with u at all times. btw, u also need to have in ur possession, ur permit while on the road.

others say yes, but that is NOT true, in the state of tennessee there is NO LAW that says any vehicle that you drive has to be covered with insurance, In your state insurance is optional. So no, you will not be asked for a proof because its not required.

Yes, you cannot be licensed as a driver without insurance. They may not ask to see it but they are supposed to.
