I'm moving to the state and trying to get a handle on what kind of expenses I'm looking at in bring my car with me.

I know there are fees to register and tag my car, but what other fees are there?

Do I have to pay any taxes on the car every year? I hear there's an "Ad Velorem" tax based on the car's value. Is this a yearly fee?

What about buying a used car in the state of Georgia, what are the taxes for something like that?

Any info you can offer would be tremendously helpful to me. Thanks for your time.

The insurance company wants us to go to a specific repair shop. They say that we have to have repairs done at that specific business or they won't pay for repairs. Is this legal? Or can I have to have the auto repairs done at any repair shop?

The accident happened when I tried to pull out of the curb, and the other car passed by, and I scratched their door. No one was injured, the other party got my contacts, but I didn't get theirs. No police was present, and we had a verbal agreement that we will settle outside insurance. I will be responsible for their repairment bill but the problem is, it is my friend's car and the car has no insurance covered, I would like to know what can I do, and how can I settle this incident. Is it likely that they will still file for insurance or go to the police even though I agree to pay for their damages? Please help me out on this. Thank you!

Collection agreed to negotiate and will accept 20% less. Am I all out of options? The backstory is I rented a Hertz car and dented it and my car insurance only covered a smidgen of the damage leaving me with a $600 bill.

This is an honest question. Please answer honestly!
I rear-ended a lady. My fault. Her car had a little paint damage, my license plate was bent.
She called the cops, I got a ticket.
Now, almost two months later, she's asking for $500 for her "medical bills", car bills, and general frustration. (Yes, she said frustration as one of the costs.)
I'm not trying to be stubborn or uncooperative, by any means.
My insurance rates would skyrocket, so it's cheaper for me to cough up the $500.
But isn't it just unfair that she asks for more than she needs? Especially since she's middle aged, and I'm 21? I mean, I'm barely scraping by financially. Grr.
What do I do???

Okay, Me and my friend argue about this subject all the time, and i have absoulety have to know the answer. were both 15 and he claims that in order to get your license, you have your permit and get 40 hours of driving time with a guardian, without taking drivers ed, and thats it. But i say, and this is what the drivers ed teacher tells me, you have to get ur permit, take drivers ed, "get 40 hours with parents" finish drivers ed, then get your license. He claims someone told his mom what he thinks he is doing. So Which is it? By the way we are in the state of Utah.

Hi,
I came to U.S. in May, 06 on work visa. I stay in Pittsburgh, PA. I have international drivers permit from India. I financed my new car (2007 Toyota Camry CE 4dr Sedan) in Sep 06. I took my U.S. learner's permit in September and the valid U.S. driver's permit in Nov, 06.
My coverage is state minimum and premium is $860-6 month:
Bodily injury - $15000/$30000.
Property - $25000.
Deductible Colision: $500 and Comprehensive $500.
Emergency Road Side.
Rental Car ($25 per day/$750).
I earlier had this with First Acceptance for 1 month then I currently have Geico since last 2 months.
I called Geico to tell them that since now I have a valid U.S. driver's license - please decrease my premium. They said I need atleast 3 years U.S. or Canada driver history.

I have a wife who has U.S. learner's permit and International Driver's permit from India. We both have good driving experience (5 years) in India.

I can't afford $860 of premium-6 months. Please suggest what to d

The Boom truck was behind locked doors in our shop. Which our employee had a key to. It was 2 am. He has no liscense and no permission to drive any vehicle. The only person who drives that truck is the owner. Absolutely noone has any permission to drive it. The police saw the accident and followed him to our house. They arrested him. He will be charged w/ fleeing an accident, DUI. Stolen vehicle, and eluding the police. I just want to know, what, if any, responsibility we have. Since the truck was stolen and it was in an accident.

I currently have an out of state drivers license and I am moving to Texas for my job. I will be a student in Texas and in my current state, out of state students do not have to get a new drivers license and registration. Will I need to get a new drivers license and vehicle registration or does Texas allow out of state students to keep their existing credentials? Also, do you have a statute to back your answer?

Thank you!
