Guessing from your name your are from Michigan. I am too. I know there is a late fee for getting your tabs late. I know it used to be a flat $25, but I think it has changed to a daily fee.

Since you didnt have the current tabs when you got pulled over I am guessing that even if you get the new ones, you will stay have to pay a fine for driving with expired tabs.

And yes, you can get another ticket for driving on expired tabs. Get new ones as soon as you can. It's only going to cost you more money in the long run if you dont.

**edit**
My bad, it's a $10 flat fee for being late. I think it used to be $25.

Yes, it's $10 dollars. And you will be required to pay the renewal in 9 months. One-time charge.

Go to the SOS and get your license address changed ASAP. No charge for this and they will put a sticker on the back to show the change until you renew. And it will be in the system.

If you make the decision to drive, you can be ticketed again. It depends on the cop. But most will, especially if they know you already have an outstanding ticket. "This person doesn't follow the law and does whatever he/she wants" Your just adding fuel to the legal fire. The court will look down on multiple violations of the same thing.

Going to the police station will do nothing as it is already at the court. You can contact the court to ask the policy if you corrected the above issues, but you will probably have a fine for the expired sticker. In Farmington Hills, it's $126.00. They may waive the address change, but get it done beforehand. It's up to the court. If you do have to go to court, dress appropriately. Business casual at the least. Nothing shows contempt more than people who go to court in jeans and a T-shirt. Shave if your a guy, and shower. Comb you hair. It's all about perception. It may not be fair, but it's reality. I know, I have relatives in the Michigan court system and hear about it all the time.

I didn't realize that some states are so strict on this. In Tennessee I've been ticketed once for expired tags and once for a light out, brake or turn signal, I don't remember. Anyway, all I had to do was fix them problem, ie: get my tags renewed, replace my light, and take it to the police station and show them proof and they cancelled my ticket. I didn't have to pay a penny or go to court. I'm not sure if I was lucky or if it was just southern hospitality, lol.
