I read a story that says that insurance companies are trying to base their rates for car insurance on your credit rating, age, and gender etc. Is that right/do you agree or disagree with the practice,
what do you think the right way is to determine insurance rates etc?

I was driving without auto insurance, and scratched the backside of the front car. It was small scratch. (I need to be close to the car in order to look at the small scratch.) Now they charge me $1,156 for the damage, and her insurance company even hires the collecting agent to force me to pay. I do not know her car brand, her name, her cellular phone, and anything about her. They even did not show any detail information of the payment. I want to protect myself and Now what I can do? Should I hire laywer?

We were driving long hours and my friends was getting tired, it's late night, we're on the mountain highway so we didn't want to stop on the mountain alone. I took over the wheel to drive, but I have no insurance. We hit a curve and slam into the mountain side rocks. The car was severely damaged and not drivable. No one is injured but we had minor bruises. My friend has full-coverage on insurance, but I don't and I was driving the car. We're outside of our home state and she's with Farmer Insurance. Will her insurance cover for the damage or will I have to pay for it since I was the driver? We went to get physical check up and x-rays were taken, and the form asked for the driver's insurance, but I don't have insurance. How will this work? I really need guidance. Please help, we are very worried. Thanks.

I got into an accident on 9/9/06. It was the other car's fault. She was intoxicated driving at 60mph on surface street and ran a red light into me. However, my insurance expired on 9/4/06. I sent in my check on 9/7/06 and postmarked on that date as well. What's gonna happen? Am I still covered?

My father just purchased a car in his name that I will be driving and paying for.

I am an adult not living with him.

I was told that I would need to be on the title in order to get insurance coverage for this vehicle.

Do you know if you are able to add someone to a title if you are not the free and clear owner of the vehicle?

I am in the process of cutting an old pickup truck in half so that I can use the bed portion as a trailer. When I register it, would I use the existing VIN number from the old truck or would I be issued a new one for a homemade trailer?

Last year, I moved from PA to New York City. My PA license is about to expire (October 1), and I have no idea what to do. I want a New York license, since I do live here now, even though I don't drive.

So, my question is, how do I do this? When should I go to the DMV? Do I have to wait until it expires? Or can I go now? Do I need proof of my new address? Do I have to re-take the test in New York? What forms do I need?

Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I was wanting to know earlier about paying sales tax on a car that I just bought at the courthouse. I was wondering if I pay sales tax at the place where I got the car since my husband is overseas.

I bought a car from a californian dealer.My mistake,I gave him all
the money and trusted his promiss,to give me the title next day.
I showed up many times.Every time,the same ole story:my brother,my sister,my uncle got the title.Man~ana,man~ana,I
learned a new word in Spanish, that was another new experience.
One day,his place was vacant, his phonenumber out of order,
all the other cars removed, nobody knew, where he went.I got a
Californian temporary registration with lost/stolen title.I transferred
it to Arizona and it´s still sitting there. Now I want to get it registered
Anybody out there with any idea? There´s a reward in case of
success. The car is in the Phoenix area. Thanks a lot!!!

The Post Office says I need my log book, but looking around on the internet (direct.gov.uk etc), nowhere mentions the log book.

Problem being that my registration document (is this the same as a log book) is in my old address. My insurance is in my new address. Will this be a problem?

Okay, that was more than one question ... but hopefully it makes sense!

Can I legally drive alone by myself as long as I have my parent's insurance card in the car? I just got my license and I don't plan on driving to work or school, rather just for miscellaneous activities. I don't feel like I should be paying for car insurance yet. If I get in an accident, wouldn't it just be as if my parent's got in the accident. So can I legally drive under my parent's insurance if my name has not been put on the plan as one of their children who drive. Is it OK for me to drive alone to run some errands now and then?
