hi, i have been involved in an car accident today near my home. i was parking at the road side and didnt check my rear mirror to see if there any car behind me. i reverse my car planing to U-turn it to the other lane and just then a slight bump was involved in the car behind me. I got off the car and check the damage which i found it to be almost non-existance. However the owner of the car claim there a bump at his car and now suggest that i pay him 300 $ for it. i told him it not possible as i'm an student and the car i'm driving belong to my family. Legally i'm suppose to pay but is there any other way out of it ? He Suggested a police report but i was against it as i didnt want my parents to know about it. Should i let my parent know and settle this ? or should i pay the 300 bucks and let the matters end ? Or even should we go to a work shop and find out the cost and settle it ?

I have a car, on my drive, that's been there for 6 years.
I never SORN it and I do not get car tax reminders on it.
As far as I can see DVLA doesn't even know it exists.

If I sold it to someone and filled in the log book and sent it off would I get a fine?
If I disputed the fine by saying that I did send the SORN and as I never heard anything back (including tax reminders) I assumed you received it would I get away with it?
Is there anyway around this situation apart from having the car crushed without any paperwork involvement (my mate will do it)?

For example, if you own two cars, and use the plates from one car on the other car. I don't mean stolen plates- say that both cars belong to you and you are using the wrong plates on one of the cars that you own.

Hi , my question was : Can you still follow up a claim even though i sold my car? Here is the deal, My insurance took pictures of my car when i still had it and then I asked them if I could sell my car and still receive my claim money (which I was not at fault) and he said sure as long as we have the pictures. I proceed and sold the car weeks later. I waited a month for the insurance to call me back and let me know about my claim. I finally called and he said he was still waiting for the police report which was not received yet . So I went and get a copy and send it to him. A couple of weeks past by and my insurance called me saying that the other driver did have insurance after all (which the other driver didnt have at the day of the accident) so he transfered me to the other driver's insurance and now the other insurance wants to take pictures to proceed once again with the claim. I do not have my car anymore, but the guy who bought my car is a friend of mine and

I lost mine and I still have the paper copy that I was given that signified that I passed the permit test before my actual permit came in the mail. I would assume the DMV would be the place to go, but not sure about the other details.

Okay...your car gets stolen and the thief smashes up 9 cars on the same block, flips your car and flees the scene before he can be indentified.

Who's insurance pays for the damage? Each individual car owner's policy? OR the owner of the stolen vehicle? What about if one of the victims only have liability can they sue the car owner?

Just curiouos. I saw on the news last night that this happened to people recently. A stolen SUV side wiped a bunch of cars, flipped it and took off.

My 6 year old daughter was riding her bicycle on the sidewalk outside our apartment complex and wrecked, her bike hit a parked car in which the fender was over the sidewalk. Now the owner of the car wants to sue. The damage was a scratch to the lower bumper and he is now stating that she flew over the top onto the hood and cracked the grill etc. This is a nightmare...she is less than 50 lbs. and was riding at a very slow speed. Someone help!!!

This morning while driving on a highway, the van next to me swerved into my lane and side swiped my car. They didn't hit me hard enough to leave any dents because I swerved over as much as I could trying to avoid them. They would not pull over to exchange information. I honked and flashed my lights at them but still nothing. I stayed behind them long enough to call the cops and give them a plate number and vehicle description. Then I pulled over and waited for the cop to arrive so that I could give a report. My car did not have any dents but did have a few paint chips missing. This was not there before today, I have only had the car about a month. The cop didn't write anything down and did not file a report stating I could not do anything because there was not enough damage. Is this true? When I called 911 they said that it was the middle of shift change so I may have to wait awhile...I feel that this cop may have just been getting off duty and did not want to mess with it.

The guy paid for the vehicle on July1 and we signed over the title, but it wasn't notarized. The next day he got in an accident and told the police that we let him borrow it. Apparently the guy was only 17 ( he looked and talked like he was about 30, talking about child support and he had a full beard and moustache) and he didn't have a license. When the ins. co. for the people that he hit called us, my husband told the adjuster that the guy bought it from us before the adjuster told us it was in an accident and that the guy said he borrowed it from us. What the heck can we do? We didn't have ins. on it because we hadn't drove it in over a year, and we took our licence plates off. The guy didn't have a license either. Are we super screwed?
