Car Makes - February 2007

I am currently debating between buying a used (2002 or 2003) Toyota Rav4, Honda CrV, Suzuki Grand Vitara, or Saab (random I know, but a dream car and great in snow with good tires!). Any suggestions on these cars or which one is best for my dollar? I want to spend about $15,000 after all taxes and interest, so I'm figuring about a $10,000 base price for the car.

Since it was acting up I checked the fluids. I was losing coolant from an internal leak. Thinking it was possibly a blown headgasket I checked the compression and all the cylinders were good, and there was no coolant in my oil. I think it may be an intake manifold gasket but how would I know for sure?

i have an argument i'd like to settle... a friend has a 2002 highlander he is convinced that leaving his dome light on has twice killed his battery...though i am sure that is draining the battery should it be killing it or is there possibly more to this ie;alternator trouble or other electrical problems...he is quite old and is leaving on a road trip and i think he needs to have this checked out...he is satisfied with the fact that jumping it got it going again.

I am looking to replace my 2002 Lotus Elise Sports Tourer with a 2002 onwards BMW M3.

I understand there are two options for the M3 in the form of a manual gearbox and a SMG Paddleshift gearbox.

Does anyone have a preference or any advice relating to this topic?

Are there any known issues with either car?

I do not know much about cars I bought my Prelude in 95 and has been great. I do have the follwing 2 issues, and I am not sure if it is the same problem. 1) I constantly loose presure on the clutch pedal. I refill with Dot 3 brake fluid avery month or so. 2) I am unable to accelerate like have in the past. Especially if I am going uphill. Even when I am going at a decent speed, if I increase presure on the gas pedal the RPM's shoot up, but I do not accelerate. I have to give a little presure on the gas pedal, Cannot even press down half way to the floor before the RPM's shoot up. I am not sure if replacing the clutch is the right solution. Any information will be helpful. Thanks

I can't afford a Haynes Manual for it yet and I need to open the bonnet. I can release the catch under the dashboard but I am havig problems with the manual catch under the bonnet itself. I can feel the squarish plastic part that I think must be the catch but I can't work out how to manipulate this to open the bonnet - is there some trick to this?

What are the maintenance cost in the U.S. on the 2004+ Volvo S40? I was looking at Audi and BMW but they have such high costs if parts get broken, and things do go wrong fairly easily on those brands I've heard. I've also heard that Volvos last forever, so let me know maintenance and repair costs and dependability.
