Yes, mine is an all steel bed, but the wood strap was an option.
If you need to repair your wood strap, or totally replace a steel bed with a wood strap one you can order all of the parts from LMC Truck - Catalog of Accessories & Parts for Chevrolet Truck & Blazer Suburban & GMC Truck 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton 1967-1972
1-800-LMC-TRUCK order online

Yes, most Chevy trucks could be had with a wooden bed floor, well into the 1970s. They are very pretty when restored.

'69s had this "option". Sad to say it was gone in '70. Chevy and GMC enthusiest strived to keep this option alive from '67 forward. This was a great run and all who kept this option a reality should be thanked for thier contribution to the masses. There will never be another truck made after'70 that can compare to the gloryious pinnacle of efficient transport that chevy unleashed.

Along with stone, mud and animal parts, wood was one of the first materials worked by early humans. Microwear analysis of the Mousterian stone tools used by the Neanderthals show that many were used to work wood. The development of civilization was closely tied to the development of increasingly greater degrees of skill in working these materials.

I read this twice. The way you layer longer story-related prose is admirable, and something I have much trouble with. You make it seem effortless, natural, but all of us who write know the opposite is true. I often measure the effectiveness of a piece by the number of TD's........Jealousy rears it's green head. Kudos to you, Mr Carney.

Just the floor - the rest of the bed is steel. I think that is what you are asking?
