The Chevy Colorado is a GM/Isuzu joint design(see link), so they are both Japanese pickups. I'd say the Nissan might be a little more reliable, not enough so to tip a decision. If you are buying a 2wd crew cab the Chevy Colorado with the 4 cyl is the way to go. I heard of people getting 29mpg with that combo. If you want a 6cyl i'd go with the Nissan, the Colorado's 5 cyl has been getting mixed reviews, some calling it weak.
I don't like the Ford Ranger because of the fuel economy, you are lucky to get 15mpg with the V6.

First guy is on crack. GM sells stuff TO Isuzu not the other way around. Excellent example of this is the TrailBlazer. It is with Chevy, GMC, Pontiac, Saab, Isuzu...all as a large SUV. Made by Isuzu... that's a good one.
Colorado is a basic decent truck. But its mother, the S10 was a better truck to begin with. The Colorado can't handle any weight in the back without it sagging like a dog w/ its tail between its legs. Being a GM product it will be the cheapest to maintain, only cause the parts are the cheapest even though they break more often.
The Nissan....its the superior pick up, period.
I researched them both and others for over a year as I was gonna get new trucks for my business. The Frontier is what I had chosen due to its stats, dependability, etc.
Even though I am certified in GM and not a fan of Nissan normally...their trucks are more superior. Buddy has had 2 in a row for work....beats them to death....and they are still going. They aren't cheap though.
The Toyota truck is even better....but the price is enough to make one gag on their own wallet.

Ford stop making Rangers in 2011 I have a 2010 that is just rusting away. The mag wheels hold water in the rim, so had to replace rims after 5 years as they don't hold air. I was getting 30mpg with synthetic oil, after 60,000 miles I am down to 28mpg

in case you get a heavy truck with a V6 it only might get undesirable mpg because of working too hard? The chevy 1500 with a 5.3L V8 gets around 18 to 21. seem around at boards for the tacoma and the chevy. it quite is the place you detect the real MPG numbers.

There are several reasons that the Ford Ranger outsold all the pickups mentioned here for the last 20 years.

the Honda Ridgeline is by far the best small truck on the market, do some research on it, it was named the motor trend truck of the year for 2006, I own one myself and absolutely love it!
