What works even better than the wrench is a long punch and a hammer. Tap th side of three wrench area a few times in the direction to loosen and it will usually thread right off. Put the punch in the center and rap on it a few time just to loosen its bite then try the loosen direction. Works every time.

P.S. We own almost every fan wrench they make and never use them since discovering this methed.

Gotta go to like an autozone to rent a tool that can take the clutch fan off if you are gonna do it yourself. I had my water pump in my 98 dakota replaced a couple months ago and it was like $250 for everything and it took like 2.5 hours.

If you loosen the fan clutch before removing/loosening the serpentine belt it will help keep the pulley from tuning too.

BIG WRENCH AND A HAMMER. Put the wrech on there, and give it a swat in the direction to loosen the fan. After a good one or two hits you can screw it off by hand!
