I have a 1995 Firebird and went over to Autozone to get my check engine light checked (they do it for free). But, they said that they can only do 1996 and newer. Does anyone know of a place that'll check older cars for free?

It is a 98 dodge durango/SLT. It would cost me 1,500 dollars to replace the engine. I would probably end up selling it if I did fix it. Is it worth it or should I just give it to the junk yard and get whatever.

I bought a car, thinking I had car insurance, and I want out. I didn't put any money down, yet i signed the paperwork and drove off the lot with the car. I brought back the same day, but of course they didn't take it back. Can they hold me to the loan if i didnt have car insurance and i have no job? I am only 19 and want a way out.

It's a 97. New thermostat, new radiator cap, 2 year old radiator, fans both work when the A/C is on, runs cool on the freeway even with the A/C, no rust in the system, not low on coolant, not losing coolant, no air in the system, hoses are all good, but in slow traffic it overheats. It never overheats with the A/C off no matter how hot the weather. This is a new development, as it's never done this before. I'm going to flush out the system and backflush it, but any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Yesterday i was driving i came to a stop and put my car in neutral and then i tried putting it back in gear and it wouldnt go so i let the clutch out pushed it in again and then shoved it into first it finally went but it took a lot and at every stoplight it was like that, then i decided to get some wendys and then i parked because i dont like to eat and drive then the car started acting reall weird and wouldnt go into any gear except 3rd so i would have to start in 3rd which is kinda hard and you could smell the clutch and then i pulled over into a parking lot put the car in neutral and the rpms started jumping between 0 and ten and it sounded like it wanted to die and then it didnt after this i tried putting it in gear and it went but it wouldnt move at all so i turned the car off looked under the hood...and i dont know anything about cars so that was kinda pointless then i tried putting it in gear and it would just grind...help please!

I know quite a few bikers in my hometown (and there's a few I don't know). Many of them have had bikes most of their lives and some are recent owners. Now, the one's who own Harleys seem to dress differently (while riding) than the rest. This one in particular, came home from work in his work clothes (car salesman), and went out for a ride on his Harley. But before he left he changed into...not just jeans and a t-shirt, but black boots, leather chaps, do-rag, leather vest. Is this some sort of requirement or what? I've asked these guys this question and their only response is "You wouldn't understand." Well of course I don't understand. That's why I'm asking for someone to explain it to me. Make me understand. I'm not trying to be a smarta**, I honestly want to know. Is their anyone here on Yahoo Answers that can give me an honest answer?

I have a Hyundai Elantra. When i pull the lever to open the hood from the inside of the car nothing really happens.
The safety latch, that you use to open the hood on the outside works fine. But when i close the hood, the second latch, which is sort of on the inside, doesn't seem to engage all the way, and the hood doesn't completely close.

I own a 96 grand prix with 109,000 miles on it and a 97 saturn with 197,000miles on it. The grand prix runs great but needs the drivers side elcetric window fixed and also needs a new gas tank. The saturn runs great, but check engine soon light is on and it shakes sometimes when I am at a traffic light.
What car would be the better to keep. I can not afford both on the road. Also how easy is it to change a gas tank for the grand prix and fix the window?

I took my car to the dealership to have it rust proofed. How do we know if the dealer did a good job or not? I looked underneath my car, and I dont see much of that black tar rust proof at all.... Hardly any.

So , some tips on how to know whether or not it was a good job would be nice.

Thanks

My 06 Caravan has only 16,672 miles on it and already needed a brake job. Both front rotors were resurfaced and I had them install ceramic pads.I have owned many cars in the past including when I was a teen and drove a lot harder and never got this little life from my front brakes. I dont speed or brake hard or ride the brakes for that matter. I drive mostly in the city with lots of stop and go but again Ive always done that and never had a vehicle wear out brakes this fast. Even the mechanic was surprised. Has anyone else had a similar experience with their Dodge caravan ?
