It is a 98 dodge durango/SLT. It would cost me 1,500 dollars to replace the engine. I would probably end up selling it if I did fix it. Is it worth it or should I just give it to the junk yard and get whatever.

Blowing that engine isn't easy so, I'd figure that you really worked hard at the task . . . You'll probably blow another one really quick with your skills so, put a new engine into the truck and at least you'll have a few months of guarantee on it . . . .

You could get a long block from the junk yard. Get one and fix it that way. You might get more use out of the truck. Is all about what are you going to use it for and what is worth for you. Perhaps you are using the truck for the wrong job or just neglected to perform maintenance on it.

You just bought the truck for 3K. It will cost you 1.5K to replace the engine. Then you want to sell it. Sounds like a good deal to me. You won't get anything for it without a engine, so to recoup some of your investment, put another engine in it.

Who knows, once you have another engine in it, you might like the truck again and get some used out of it.

What else would you buy?
Won't it cost more than $1500 to get something else, which would you like less than a good running Durango?
Try to find a salvage engine at www.Car-Parts.com.
How did you "blow the engine"? If you ran it without water or oil, now you're smarter.

Right now you probably wouldnt get much from a junkyard. Lucky if you would even get 20% of what you paid for it. But you would probably be better off to fix it and sell it. Since it would have a new motor in it, you could probably get more out of it than you bought it for. I know you would around here.
